Pan, Rat Tail and Sylph
Before visiting Mysidia, let’s deal with a few unfinished errands. We’ve got a sleeping monk, a smith who needs materials, and a tail we’ve been carrying around for somewhat longer than seems sanitary. Take Rat Tail and WeaponEquippable by Cecil (Paladin). Power 40; Acc 99%; Will +3. Attack element: Holy. Keep for the forging quest; it cannot be stored with Fat Chocobo. out of storage if necessary, and leave room for the items these errands produce.
Fabul: Borrow the Pan
From the Agart opening, fly toward the eastern continent. Mysidia is a useful landmark; continue east toward Mt. Ordeals, then north toward Fabul. The surface wayfinding map can help with the broad bearings. You don’t need to cross Mt. Hobs on foot.
In Fabul, go up the west tower to 3F and talk to Yang’s wife. She gives you Pan, with instructions for waking her husband. Apparently this is accepted medical practice in Fabul. (Protip: Keep it after using it; she will want it back.)
Adamant Grotto: Exchange Rat Tail
Do this before returning underground if you’re combining the errands. Retrieve Enterprise and the hovercraft from wherever you parked them. Falcon can drill between worlds, but it cannot carry the hovercraft. Enterprise has the hook.
Carry the hovercraft to Mythril’s island, set it down, and land Enterprise nearby. Board the hovercraft and cross the shallows toward the little cave southeast of Mythril. Enter Adamant Grotto, talk to the tail collector, and select Rat Tail when prompted. You’ll receive Adamant.
Return across the shallows, recover the hovercraft if you’re moving Enterprise, and switch back to Falcon for the underground leg. Make a mental note of the vehicle parking spot. Neither the smith nor the game will send you a valet.
Sylvan Cave: Wake Yang
Take Falcon through the Agart opening, then return to Sylvan Cave in the northwestern Underworld. This is a return visit to the house, not another trip through the guarded treasure circuit. Follow the house route if you need the turns again.
Cast Float on the whole party and reapply it after changing cave screens. Having finished the treasure does not make the floor any friendlier. Keep Rosa available for healing and deal with ToadLady groups promptly; curing Toad doesn’t stop the next enemy from inflicting it again.
At the house, use Pan in Yang’s interaction and finish the conversation. Rydia learns SummonCosts 25 MP; damages one enemy and restores party HP. Learned after waking Yang with Pan.. It costs 25 MP, attacks an enemy and restores party HP. It’s a useful combined action, not a promise to refill everybody from nearly dead. The upstairs teleporter returns you outside.
Kokkol: Deliver the Materials
Fly to Kokkol’s Smithy in the southeastern Underworld. Give the smith Adamant, then Legend when he asks for the sword. He goes downstairs to work.
If he hasn’t finished when you speak to him again, continue the story. Raising the Lunar Whale is the relevant progression milestone; don’t spend an afternoon walking circles outside because he said he needs time. We’ll collect the sword on the later Earth cleanup trip.
Return Pan, Then Visit Mysidia
Return to the surface and give Pan back to Yang’s wife, again in Fabul’s west tower, 3F. She gives you Knife. Keep this unique item for Edge’s Throw command rather than selling it or treating it as an ordinary weapon upgrade. Store it if you aren’t ready to spend it on a major battle.
That finishes Yang’s errand and gets the smith working. Head for Mysidia when you’re ready to advance the story.
