Underworld Map and Travel

More visual soup? Here is the underground companion to the surface map. North is up; distances and region outlines are schematic, not game terrain. Use the landmarks to orient yourself, not as a promise that you can walk in a straight line between them.

Underworld schematic showing Sylvan Cave in the northwest, Babil to the north, the surface passage in the northeast, Dwarven Castle to the east, Cave of Summons northwest of Tomra, Sealed Cave north of Tomra, and Kokkol's Smithy in the southeast.

Open the large Underworld map.

Looking for Troia or the Magnetic Cavern? Those are on the surface. Don’t make an underground trip to find them. Troia is in the forested region northwest of Baron.

Find your bearings

DestinationLandmark to look for
Dwarven CastleThe castle in the eastern region. Use this as your shopping, recovery and storage hub.
Tower of BabilNorth and west of Dwarven Castle. Early in the story, approach along the land route from Dwarven Base; this is not a promise of late-game re-entry.
Kokkol’s SmithyThe small building in the southeastern region, south of the castle.
TomraWest of the smithy, in the southern region.
Sealed CaveThe mountain-ringed cave north of Tomra.
Cave of SummonsThe cave on a small island northwest of Tomra. This leads to the Land of Summons.
Sylvan CaveThe cave in the far northwestern corner. This is the Yang/SummonCosts 25 MP; damages one enemy and restores party HP. Learned after waking Yang with Pan. destination, not the island cave.
Surface passageThe northeastern opening. The drill-equipped Falcon uses it to return to Agart.

The three cave entrances are worth keeping separate: far northwest = Sylvan; island = Summons; mountains north of Tomra = Sealed. For their interior routes, use Sylvan Cave, Cave of Summons, and Sealed Cave.

Which vehicle upgrade do I need?

Your airship stays where you parked it. This map does not track its current position. The surface Enterprise carries the hovercraft; don’t plan the Adamant Grotto trip around Falcon having the same equipment.

Recovery and storage before a cave

Dwarven Castle has shops and a Fat Chocobo. The nearby Dwarven Base has the Water of Life recovery pot. See the castle route for the stairs and underground passage rather than hunting for the pot in the throne room.

Before Sylvan Cave or the Cave of Summons, prepare Float and remember to renew it after changing floors. Retrieve useful equipment and consumables from storage before leaving; a map can’t help much when the thing you need is still inside the bird.
