Agart and the Underworld
Our next destination is Agart, on the island south of Baron. From Eblan, fly east toward it. If your emulator has turned the flying map into modern art, the world wayfinding diagram may be more helpful than the coastline on your screen.
Before Descending
Visit Fat Chocobo and finish your surface shopping first. There is storage underground, but you won’t reach it before the next castle battles. Keep healing supplies, ItemRevives a KO'd ally. Make an ordinary save. If you skipped an optional surface visit, this is the point to decide whether you want it now or later.
The Well
Enter Agart’s enclosed well garden through its southern doorway. Examine the well and select Magma. After the spectacle, leave town and board the airship.
Opening the crater does not force you to descend. Flying into the opening does. Finish any remaining errands before moving over it and landing.
The arrival sequence leaves the damaged Enterprise beside Dwarven Castle. Enter the castle nearby; you don’t need to wander the new map looking for another destination.
Dwarven Castle: Prepare Before the King
Most side rooms are blocked at first. From 1F, take the left stairs to the inn and item shops on 2F. The pot immediately left of the item counter contains 5,000 Gil. Buy ItemRevives a KO'd ally. Can appear as loot from a FloatEye and Eagle formation southwest of Baron. and other recovery supplies if needed, and use the inn if the party needs a full recovery.
Once safely inside, remove Cid’s armor before approaching the king. Keep it in your inventory, particularly his Flame body armor. Leave his position in the back row. This is a party-change checkpoint, not advice to send an unequipped Cid wandering around outside. He can keep his weapon - no one else uses wrenches, as far as I can tell.
Return to 1F and take the northern stairs toward King Giott. Be ready for two battles with story scenes between them. There is no shopping break halfway through.
Boss Fight Prep
Put Cecil, Kain, and Yang in front, with Rosa behind them. Start with healthy HP and enough MP for repeated healing. Cid leaves before the fighting, so don’t count on his damage or his inventory space being somebody else’s problem.
The fight starts with three Cal and three Brina. Concentrate attacks rather than leaving all six partly damaged. If they combine into Calbrina, keep attacking and have Rosa heal. Don’t assume combination means you’ve failed the fight or need to reload.
Cecil’s condition matters for what follows. Heal him before ending the battle if you can do so safely.
Boss Fight Prep
The next battle follows the dialogue without a normal preparation stop. Read this short plan before advancing through the scenes: try to get Kain airborne early, survive the scripted opening, then use Titan when it becomes available.
Hold Gas and the summoned Shadow make the opening look disastrous. That is part of the encounter. If Kain is airborne in time, he can avoid being caught with the others. Don’t restart simply because several people fall.
Rydia’s arrival changes the fight. Use Call → Titan, which costs 40 MP, while Cecil attacks or heals as needed. If you need another healer, use a ItemRevives a KO'd ally. Can appear as loot from a FloatEye and Eagle formation southwest of Baron. on Rosa and follow with recovery before she takes another hit. You don’t have to rebuild the entire party before doing damage; trying to revive everyone can turn a manageable finish into a much longer emergency.
After the scenes, Rydia rejoins your party. She now has Black magic and Call, but no White magic menu. Rosa remains your primary healer. Check everyone’s HP and status before wandering off, then continue to Dwarven Castle’s treasures and preparations.
