Elements and CPU
Save in Passage before entering Stairwell. The familiar faces ahead would like another word. Rubicant restores the party before the rematch, so you don’t need to arrive with every last MP topped off.
Boss Fight Prep
Keep Rosa on healing and FuSoYa available for either the appropriate elemental spell or emergency recovery. Rydia supplies the main magical damage. Watch the current enemy instead of queuing the same element through every transformation.
The forms appear in this order: Milon, Rubicant, Cagnazzo, Valvalis. MagicBlack Magic in Tellah's post-trial menu, costing 30 MP. Its effect has not yet been tested on this run., MagicBlack Magic in Tellah's post-trial menu, costing 30 MP. Its effect has not yet been tested on this run. and MagicBlack Magic in Tellah's post-trial menu, costing 30 MP. Its effect has not yet been tested on this run. are the straightforward choices for the first three. When the enemy changes, stop and check what’s already queued. A Fire spell selected at the end of Milon’s phase is not a helpful welcome gift for Rubicant.
Against Valvalis, switch Rydia to SummonBattle-menu summon learned from Bahamut. Costs 60 MP; do not assume every boss permits counter-free use. if you earned it, or another suitable non-elemental attack. Storm can reduce the whole party to single-digit HP. Have Rosa ready with Cure4-all and use FuSoYa or an item user for emergency recovery rather than waiting for an offensive spell to finish. Keep status cures accessible as well.
Recover Before the Core
After the rematch, go back to the Passage save point, use a Cabin and save. Return through Stairwell when you’re ready.
If you want FuSoYa’s equipment for your collection, remove it before approaching CPU, after saving. Keep anything you need him to wear for the battle; there isn’t a safe post-CPU menu interval to assume you’ll get later. That being said, don’t weaken your backup healer just to rescue easily replaced clothing.
Boss Fight Prep
Attacker, the upper small orb, has only 3,000 HP. CPU has 30,000. That difference is the trap. An all-target attack that barely dents CPU can kill the helper you’re supposed to leave alive.
Use Cecil and Edge to remove the lower Defender, which heals CPU. Then concentrate their attacks on CPU itself. Leave the upper Attacker alone. Rosa heals the party; FuSoYa backs her up; Rydia can use recovery items rather than an all-target summon.
Do not use SummonBattle-menu summon learned from Bahamut. Costs 60 MP; do not assume every boss permits counter-free use., SummonBattle-menu summon learned from Leviatan. All-target offense is unsafe while CPU's Attacker must survive., Quake or other all-enemy offense while CPU lives. Avoid MagicWhite Magic confirmed in Porom's Level 18 menu, costing 18 MP. Its effect has not yet been tested on this run., too: you want control of the targets. Removing both helpers provokes lethal retaliation and their return. Dispel isn’t a lasting solution to CPU’s Wall because it can put Wall back up.
Once CPU is gone, finish the surviving Attacker. A couple of quick whacks should take care of it, but if your trigger finger has been getting all itchy, an all-target summon is fine now.
Reunion and the Last Earth Visit
Watch the scenes after victory. FuSoYa leaves and Kain returns, with WeaponEquippable by Kain. Power 92; Acc 80%; Vitality +15. Attack element: Projectile. and Genji equipment. Check his hand placement and the party’s rows rather than immediately buying replacements. Remember, Kain is left-handed: spear left, shield right. Am I the only one who’s glad most games don’t care about this level of detail?
The story returns you to the Moon aboard the Whale, with Cecil, Kain, Edge, Rosa and Rydia as the final party.
NOTE: You no longer have to worry about party members coming and going. Yes, that’s a small spoiler, but it also means you can finally level grind if you want, and you don’t have to worry about wasted effort.
Anyway, check your gear and Save.
OPTIONAL: Technically you can head directly to the Crystal Palace at this point. However, you can also use the travel crystal to return to Earth and take on a few optional quests and get some neat gear. Why not follow along and collect Odin, Excalbur and supplies first?
