Giant of Babil
Finish your ship preparations before using the Lunar Whale’s crystal to return to Earth with FuSoYa. That return leads into the next story event and the Giant. You cannot freely leave this dungeon, and you cannot return after completing it.
Rest, save separately, stock healing and MP recovery, and make room for treasure. Keep Rosa’s arrows equipped in her right hand, with the bow in her left. If you brought spare equipment for FuSoYa, don’t give him something you can’t bear to lose later.
Flashing lights: the return-to-Earth and Giant sequence includes large flashing effects. After the scenes and allied intervention, follow the route into the Giant.
The mechanical theme is not a license to cast Bolt on everything without checking results. Keep the casters protected, focus enemies rather than spreading weak attacks, and watch Searchers, which can bring reinforcements. Edge can steal Alert from Searcher or Last Arm if you want supplies for later rare-encounter hunting. That’s optional; don’t turn a comfortable fight into an exhausting one just to fill a stack.
Mouth, Neck and Chest
Move through the Mouth and Neck into Chest. This area has five pickups. Clear the side branches before taking the route onward:
| Location | Treasure |
|---|---|
| Northern branch | Equipment: ThrowablesEquippable by Edge (Throw only). Power 40; Acc 99%. Attack element: Projectile. Consumed by Edge’s Throw; not an equippable hand weapon. |
| Southwest branch | HiPotion |
| Southern branch | Ether1 |
| Central chest | Alert |
| Northeast branch | Equipment: ArrowsEquippable by Cecil (Paladin), Rydia (both forms), Rosa, Cid, Palom, Porom, Edward, FuSoYa. Power 50. Requires a bow-and-arrow pair., 10 |
The Yoichi pickup is ammunition, not another bow. An Alert is an item for calling an area’s special encounter; collecting one doesn’t automatically summon anything.
Stomach: Two Permanent Upgrades
In Stomach, take the northern branch for Ag Apple, then return to the junction and work east to the far northeastern branch for SomaDrop. Both are worth collecting before continuing. Ag Apple increases maximum HP; SomaDrop increases maximum MP. Neither should be mistaken for a refill of the current value.
Return from the side branch and take the other route toward Passage. Before leaving this floor, check that both chests are open. This is a one-visit dungeon, so “I’ll come back later” is not an inventory-management strategy here.
Passage: Elixir and the Save Point
Take the southern/eastern treasure branch for Elixir. Last Arm guards the chest, so heal before opening it. Finish the fight rather than spending every turn stealing while party HP falls.
Continue around the eastern and northern route toward the save point. Save before proceeding to Stairwell. If the walk has exhausted the party, a Cabin is convenient; however, the upcoming boss introduction includes a full restoration, so you don’t need to spend one solely to enter that fight at full HP/MP.
You should now have collected eight treasures: five in Chest, two in Stomach, one in Passage. Check this before approaching the rematch. The next page covers both boss battles and the party changes afterward.
