Xenosaga Episode I Walkthrough
Woglinde: Gnosis Attack
During the nap, you’ll see the creepy girl again, followed by fun with the Gnosis and Kosmos. When you have control again, you’ll need to get to the room where Kosmos is. I’m going to do the first part in numerical order, so you don’t leave something out and get killed.

Survive the first Gnosis
Do not fight yet
After the first scripted battle, you do NOT want to fight the Gnosis anymore. Shion cannot damage them until Kosmos activates, and getting caught can mean an instant game over. Goodbye or an ItemTarget: 1, Escape from battle may get you out, but avoiding them is a much better plan.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Go into Shion’s room and save. |
| 2 | Walk toward the Gnosis and get into the required battle. Try to attack and learn that it’s fairly pointless. You’ll see some fun cut scenes. |
| 3 | Run through the right-hand doorway and either close the partition or duck into the room just beyond the partition switch. |
| 4 | Exit that room and talk to the guy in the lower-right corner of the screen. |
| 5 | Head up and use the control switch on the right to turn on the video screen. This will distract the Gnosis and let you get past. |
| 6 | Continue to the control room and save. Talk to the guy there, then go left and forward. |
| 7 | When you get close to the next Gnosis, retreat to the control room. Let it follow you, then slip past it. |
| 8 | Exit the control room and watch the cut scene. Good morning, Kosmos. ;) |
Airlock and A.G.W.S. Hangar
When you have control of Shion again, head left and forward through the doorway. You’ll see three weird things with a Gnosis behind them. Climb the ladder and press the airlock switch.
Go back down the ladder and talk to the guy in the bottom-left corner. He’ll send you to the A.G.W.S. Hangar. Head right inside the hangar and talk to the mechanic for the Key ItemPlug-in for M.W.S.; used to blow up stuff. If you need to buy supplies, you can do so from the guy on the right, but you may want to wait until you’ve collected the free stuff below.
Use the Vaporizer at the back of the hangar. Pick up:
- 1x ItemTarget: 1, Escape from battle ()
- 2x ItemTarget: 1, +25% Max Frame Hit Points (FHP) ()
- 2x ItemTarget: 1, +50% Max Frame Hit Points (FHP) ()
Head down to the screen with the Gnosis by the yellow energy nets. Walk around to the left until one of the Gnosis sees you and breaks the box trying to get you. Then stand close to the energy nets to draw both Gnosis into them. Once they’re trapped, collect:
- 200G ()
- 2x Veil ()
Go back to the airlock area and vaporize the large block to reach the ladder. At the top, blow up the two boxes for:
- 1x ItemTarget: 1, Revive KO'd ally with HP max ()
- Another 200G ()
If you want, return to the control room and save again. Be careful not to blow up the glass door in the back. That will unleash guys who will kill you.
Sergeant Swaine and Segment Address No. 7
Return to the crewman who originally needed the Key ItemPlug-in for M.W.S.; used to blow up stuff, then head a little farther down the corridor and vaporize the obstruction. When the next Gnosis come after you, run around the far column and double back, just like the foot race earlier. Don’t get too far ahead of them, or they may go around both sides of the column. Insta-death. :(
After you get past them, you’ll see CharacterFederation soldier associated with Decoder 7.. Talk to him to receive Key ItemItem required to open Segment Address No. 7. Use it on SidequestSegment Address 7 is opened with Decoder 7. across the hall. Open the chest for Key ItemGive to the Professor at the Robot Academy; both arms give Throni Blade. and mark it . Use it on the upper door to the left, then open the chest inside for the A.G.W.S. WeaponAll enemies; Air; Hit. (). This is an A.G.W.S. weapon.
Save in the next room down. You can also hear the guy get a saying right. Not an applicable one, I’ll grant you, but you have to take what you can get, right?
