Xenosaga Episode I Reference

U.M.N. and E.V.S.

When control returns

  1. Open the U.M.N. menu and read every new Email before changing areas.
  2. Reply when the message offers a choice, then download any attachment. Reading the Email alone may not install the plug-in or deliver the equipment.
  3. Check whether a new E.V.S. destination or shop stock milestone appeared.
  4. Use an E.V.S.-enabled save point for optional returns, minigames, and cleanup before advancing through a route lock.

U.M.N. services

The U.M.N., or Unus Mundus Network, matters to the route because it gathers several systems in one menu.

ServiceWhat to do
EmailRead messages promptly, answer reply choices, and download attachments. Use Emails and Investments for the missable chains and investment outcomes.
DatabaseCheck newly encountered enemies and route terms when you need an in-game reminder. The guide’s Enemies and Bosses page keeps the route-reviewed combat response.
ShopRecheck stock after story milestones rather than assuming the first inventory is permanent. The Shops reference lists every useful revisit.
E.V.S.Return to registered environments, collect later rewards, and launch passport minigames from compatible save points.

E.V.S. returns

E.V.S.-enabled save points have an additional blue unit above the terminal. A normal save point cannot launch E.V.S. maps or passport minigames.

Treat every return as a new route state. Story events do not replay, some objects and shops change, and later milestones can add enemies, chests, or rewards that were not present during the original mission.
