Xenosaga Episode I Minigame

Playing on an emulator? Emulator Notes explains how save states can make a Hi-Low streak deterministic from the player’s point of view.
Poker is one of the fastest repeatable ways to make money. I earned more than 30,000G from one betting sequence and routinely turned a session into enough cash for A.G.W.S. upgrades.
Get the Casino Passport
The Key ItemUnlocks the Casino exchange, Poker, and Slots when used at an E.V.S.-enabled save point. is in a blue chest inside the Game Room in the Durandal Residential Area. You can detour there once Shion is free to explore the LocationThe Kukai Foundation flagship and recurring hub. while looking for MOMO. The chest is on the far-right side of the room.
Save in a new slot at the E.V.S. point, then use the Passport from Key Items. You can play from any E.V.S.-enabled save point after obtaining it. The Elsa terminal is the best base for a long money-making session because a shop plate is nearby.
Turn coins into G
- At a shop, sell or use your existing ItemTarget: 1, HP recovery/Low (50 HP), ItemTarget: 1, EP recovery/Low (+10 EP), ItemTarget: 1, Revive KO'd ally with HP recovery/Low, and ItemTarget: 1, Removes all Physical Status Effects. A ItemRepeatable Casino bundle containing a Med Kit, Ether Pack, Revive, and Cure-All; selling the contents is the most efficient basic coin-to-G exchange. produces one of each, and you need room for 99 copies.
- Use Exchange to buy coins. About 1,000 is a comfortable Level 4 starting bankroll; a smaller amount works if you build it at the lower levels.
- Choose Poker. Level 4 costs 100 coins per hand.
- Build at least 10,900 coins through winning hands and the Hi/Lo double-or-nothing round.
- Keep 1,000 coins as the bankroll for your next session.
- Exchange the other 9,900 coins for 99 ItemRepeatable Casino bundle containing a Med Kit, Ether Pack, Revive, and Cure-All; selling the contents is the most efficient basic coin-to-G exchange. bundles. Use R1 instead of repeatedly pressing Circle when changing the quantity.
- Exit the Casino and sell the resulting 99 ItemTarget: 1, HP recovery/Low (50 HP), ItemTarget: 1, EP recovery/Low (+10 EP), ItemTarget: 1, Revive KO'd ally with HP recovery/Low, and ItemTarget: 1, Removes all Physical Status Effects for 10,890G.
- Repeat until you have converted as many coins as you want.
That converts 9,900 Casino Coins into 10,890G. You can also keep any of the healing items you actually need instead of selling the entire batch.
Poker rules that are easy to misread
- Hold any already-valid hand before chasing a prettier one. The money engine is reaching Hi/Lo, not repeatedly discarding a pair in hopes of a miracle.
- If you have no pair, high cards are reasonable holds. A straight or flush that is one card short becomes more attractive once you are comfortable reading the hand.
- The ace-looking low card functions as 1, below 2. A 1-2-3-4-5 straight works; 10-J-Q-K-1 does not.
- The game does not announce that your initial hand already contains a winner. Check the hand and hold all five cards when appropriate.
Hi/Lo shorthand
| Current card | Conservative call |
|---|---|
| 1 through 5 | Hi |
| 6 | Hi, but consider banking a large late-chain pot |
| 7 | Either direction; effectively the danger card |
| 8 | Low, but consider banking a large late-chain pot |
| 9 through K | Low |
Take more chances with 6 and 8 in the first three slots, then become conservative in slots four and five. Keep entering double-or-nothing while building the bankroll, but bank the payout once the amount on screen would hurt to lose. On 7, either direction is a coin toss, so the size of the payout should make the decision for you.
