Xenosaga Episode I Reference
Character Equipment
Equipment is both gear and a source of permanent Skills. Use the quick decisions first, then the complete tables when you need to match a weapon, cartridge, armor piece, or accessory to its actual job.
The equipment loop
| No. | Action |
|---|
| 1 | Equip a new accessory when its immediate effect solves the next fight. |
|---|
| 2 | Check the Skills menu before selling or passing it on. Spend S.Pts to extract any useful Skill. |
|---|
| 3 | Use Set after extraction. Learning a Skill does not automatically make it active. |
|---|
| 4 | Pass one-off equipment through the party. Each character must extract that Skill separately. |
|---|
| 5 | Sell only after the characters who need the Skill have learned it and the equipment itself is no longer useful. |
|---|
See Skills for the complete extracted ability list and Shops for current stock and restock windows.
Fast equipment decisions
| Need | Start here |
|---|
| Enemy HP and details | Extract Search Eyes from Scope, Set it, then pass the Scope to the next character. |
|---|
| More actions | Commander's Crest adds 1 AP each turn. Double Buster lets a 6 AP string execute two Fast-slot Tech Attacks. |
|---|
| Cheaper Ether | Angel Ring halves EP costs. Life Stone doubles HP and EP recovery effects. |
|---|
| More battle points | Craft Apron raises S.Pts, Star Hat raises E.Pts, and Swimsuit raises T.Pts earned by 25%. |
|---|
| Better item results | Thief Ring improves the chance of receiving the better enemy item. MOMO's transformed Magic Caster still handles rare-item theft directly. |
|---|
| A specific boss status | Use the matching Guard accessory or extract its Skill. Shield Armor provides broad protection, but a focused Guard often arrives earlier. |
|---|
| Elemental or attack resistance | Match the Coat to the incoming damage family. Raw Physical Defense does not replace the correct resistance. |
|---|
Who can wear the armor
KOS-MOS uses the D Unit V series, while Ziggy uses the VOLG series. The other four characters use the ordinary suit and armor progression. Accessories have their own user restrictions, so check the Equip menu before planning to pass a particular piece through the whole party.
Weapons
Shion keeps the M.W.S. and changes its Shock Blade result with BXS cartridges. KOS-MOS and Ziggy use limited-use subweapons, while Jr.'s guns pair with specific ammunition families. MOMO's rods and chaos' gloves are the straightforward Physical Attack progressions.
