The searchlights

There was a lot that happened during those cut scenes, so I hope you didn’t miss it. You at least caught the little girl’s name, right? Anyway, when you again have control, you’ll be Ziggy, MOMO, and Jr.

Before moving, equip your most current weapons and Skills, spend any Battle SystemBattle reward spent on Tech Attacks or character statistics. you intend to use, and save.

Cross the searchlight area
StepAction
1Head right. You can fight the patrols for their experience and points, or avoid them by staying close to the bottom edge and moving outside the searchlights.
2Follow the lower edge to the chest and collect 1x Character AccessorySword -20 (Reduce slash dmg by 20%) ().
3Destroy the marked debris around the searchlight area for:
  • 1x Character AccessoryPhysical Defense +6 ()
  • 5x ItemTarget: All, HP & EP full recovery ()
  • 5x ItemTarget: 1, HP recovery/High (300 HP) ()
4Leave through the far lower-right exit.

Shion, chaos, and the angry piano

You’ll watch a bunch more cut scenes. OK. Who decided that loud angry piano music was a good idea? On the bright side, Allen isn’t participating in battles with you. It’s a quandary, isn’t it? Half the time I’m thinking, “Why the heck isn’t he HELPING?!?” But the other half of the time, I’m just as glad to not have to look at him. Freakin’ weeny.

Anyway, make sure you’re up to the task of hurting Gnosis and head to the playground.

Clear the playground and animal walkway
StepAction
1Behind the slide, destroy the pole for 1x ItemTarget: 1, +50% Max Frame Hit Points (FHP) ().
2Destroy the similar pole on the other side for 1x ItemTarget: 1, Physical Defense Up ().
3Head forward and enter the building. There’s a save point immediately to the right.
4Destroy the animal statues along the walkway for:
  • 5x ItemTarget: 1, EP recovery/Mid (+20 EP) ()
  • 1x Character AccessoryConfusion Guard (Prevents Confusion) ()
  • 3x ItemTarget: All, HP & EP full recovery ()
  • 1x ItemTarget: 1, Restore Full HP/EP ()
  • 5x ItemTarget: 1, Revive KO'd ally with HP recovery/Low ()

Strategy: It can heal its allies, so focus on the Bugbear first. Spell Ray and Lunar Seal exploit its Spirit weakness. instead of an item. Oops, that’s an enemy, lol.
6Continue past the fallen bunny statue. Examine it for a laugh, then enter the next screen.

I found this to be a great time to learn about the EtherShion: One-use-per-battle slash attack against all enemies, earned from both Robot Arms. power. Set both EtherShion: One-use-per-battle slash attack against all enemies, earned from both Robot Arms. and EtherShion: Adds one Boost level to one ally. in Shion’s Ether menu. Have Shion use EtherShion: Adds one Boost level to one ally. on herself during her first turn, then use Battle SystemBattle resource used to insert an eligible character's turn into the order. to insert her next turn immediately before the golden Battle SystemEvent Slot bonus that multiplies Tech, Ether, and Skill Points from enemies defeated on that turn. Battle SystemTurn-based slot that cycles through blank, Critical Rate Up, Boost Gauge Up, and Points Up states.. Finish enemies with EtherShion: One-use-per-battle slash attack against all enemies, earned from both Robot Arms. there and the points really add up.

You can use this time to level up chaos, too. When he hits level 20, he gets Tech Attackchaos: Spirit Ether Tech Attack against all enemies., which damages all enemies.

A very good place to level up

I keep a bunch of ItemTarget: All, HP & EP full recovery and Ether-restoring items on hand so I can run through this last area at least three or four times. The experience, Battle SystemBattle reward spent to extract Skills from equipment., Battle SystemBattle reward spent to evolve or transfer Ether abilities., and Battle SystemBattle reward spent on Tech Attacks or character statistics. really add up, and I like to have level 25 characters when I leave here.

While doing this walkthrough, I got Shion up to level 26 before heading on. chaos was at level 25. That is a comfortable target, not a requirement.

The other manhole

Finish Shion and chaos’ route
StepAction
1When you reach the bottom, you’ll see enemies swarming below you. You can ignore them for now.
2Cross the bridge toward the bottom of the screen and destroy the box for 5x ItemTarget: 1, EP recovery/Mid (+20 EP) (). This also opens a passage leading left and back up to the first sewer route.
3Go back across the bridge, head right, then down. Defeat the enemies and press the button they were guarding.
4Cross the bridge leading down, head right, fight the Enemy / Boss-like Enemy560 HP; Gnosis type. Weak to Pierce. Rewards: 380 XP; 13 T.Pts; 10 E.Pts; 4 S.Pts. Drops: Escape Pack; no rare item. Strategy: Use Pierce attacks and focus it down before the accompanying Gremlin can Counter-Boost. and Gremlin group, then continue up.
5The next encounter is a pair of Larva Dolls. QUICKLY use your healing items or EtherShion: Low HP recovery for one ally or enemy. to damage them.
6Go down the stairs to the left and head up the lower path. The perspective changes to Jr. when you leave this section.

Continue with Encephalon: Jr. and Tiamat.
