Final Fantasy XII Walkthrough
Sky Fortress Bahamut and Ending
Boarding Bahamut
When you are done playing the rest of the game, board the Strahl and head to Sky Fortress Bahamut. It is just to the right of Rabanastre. You cannot go back from here, so use a separate save before you leave. Watch the cool cutscenes.
When the ship docks, you’ll get control. If you’ve been following this walkthrough at all up to this point, the chances are VERY good that you’ll have WAY more than powerful enough characters. All of mine were level 95 or above. I just danced through this area without Bubble or any other Magicks.
Area Enemies: Sky Fortress Bahamut
Choose an enemy to open its stats and loot chances. Mark, Rare Game, and Trophy badges flag special targets. Choose it again to collapse.

There is no save point aboard Bahamut, and Imperial reinforcements keep coming. The regular enemies are not worth turning the finale into a war of attrition, so run when a fight is not helping you reach the lift.
Take the door on your left, then take the first right you come to. You should be on the Catwalk now. There are exits all around the outside, but they just take you to various other bulkheads. Head toward the center and hop onto the barge there, then follow the western spoke to the lift. Examine the Lift Controls and engage the lift.
Judge Gabranth
Defense: Protect or Protectga covers most of the danger. Keep the healer’s recovery line above attacks.
Dispel: Remove Gabranth’s opening Haste. He uses Renew and restores Haste after the mid-fight exchange, so Dispel again.
Damage: He has no elemental weakness or absorption. Blind, Silence, and Slow can work, but strong neutral physical damage is enough.
Steal: Equip Thief’s Cuffs . He carries Hi-Potion , X-Potion , and rare Elixir . Every time he talks, try Steal again because the transition refreshes his inventory.
Conserve: Three more bosses follow without a save. Do not empty the item bag or MP reserve here.
Level / HP Level 49 with 70,719 HP. Steal Hi-Potion , X-Potion , or Elixir . Try Steal again after each dialogue transition.Weak / Absorbs No elemental weakness or absorption. Blind, Silence, and Slow can work. Reward 25 LP . Drops None. Strategy Dispel Haste, maintain Protect, and attack. After his mid-fight exchange, remove the restored Haste and keep healing through his faster final phase.
You shouldn’t have any real problem with Judge Gabranth . Every time he talks, you can steal something else. :D I got an X-Potion and a Hi-Potion . Go examine the controls again.
Vayne Solidor
Guest: Larsa joins this fight and supplies extra recovery. Do not build a strategy that depends on controlling him.
Dispel: Remove Vayne’s opening buffs and be ready to remove Haste again after the mid-fight scene.
Damage: He has no elemental weakness or absorption. Blind, Silence, and Sap can work, but ordinary attacks should be plenty by now.
Steal: Vayne carries nothing. Skip Steal and save the time.
Conserve: MP and items carry into the next two battles. Save Quickenings and expensive recovery unless the party actually needs them.
Level / HP Level 50 with 76,755 HP. Steal Nothing. Weak / Absorbs No elemental weakness or absorption. Blind, Silence, and Sap can work. Reward 0 LP . Drops None. Strategy Dispel his buffs, keep Protect active, and use neutral damage. The mid-fight scene restores Haste, so remove it again and finish without draining the resources needed for the remaining forms.
After a few moments and cutscenes, you’ll fight Vayne. I decided that I wanted to make this an interesting fight, so I did it sans accessories and weapons. I still wiped the floor with him. Apparently “force of will” hits the camera lens…? Heh heh.
Vayne Novus
Guest: Gabranth joins the party for this fight. Keep your own healer reliable instead of relying on the guest.
Targets: Five Sephira begin around Vayne. Each has 12,121 HP and carries a Hi-Ether . Defeat them to reduce incoming pressure, or attack Vayne directly if your damage is already overwhelming.
Gambits : Use a clear Foe: lowest HP attack line if you want the party to remove Sephira first. Keep healing, KO recovery, and Dispel above it.
Damage: Vayne Novus halves Dark but takes normal damage from the other elements. Oil and Slow can work.
Conserve: Magick Barrier can interrupt spell damage. Do not burn through every Ether because The Undying follows immediately.
Level / HP Vayne Novus is level 53 with 104,210 HP. Each of the five Sephira has 12,121 HP. Steal Nothing from Vayne Novus. Each Sephira carries a Hi-Ether . Weak / Absorbs Vayne Novus halves Dark and takes normal damage from the other elements. Oil and Slow can work. Reward 0 LP . Drops None. Strategy Remove Sephira if their combined attacks are disrupting recovery, then attack Vayne. Dispel renewed buffs after the mid-fight transition and use physical damage while Magick Barrier is active.
Now Vayne becomes, um, a summon…? I couldn’t steal from him. You can steal a Hi-Ether from each Sephira, but don’t let five optional Steals turn an easy battle into a mess. Once you beat him, watch more and more cutscenes.
The Undying
Defense: Start with Protect, Shell, and Bubble. Reapply only the essentials after Dispelga instead of letting everyone stand around rebuffing.
Gear: White Mask Mystic Armor Mystic head armor that absorbs Holy damage. Juggernaut can drop it rarely, making the farm useful only when Holy absorption solves a planned fight. can absorb his Holy damage. Equip status protection for the attacks that have bothered your party most, but do not sacrifice basic survival for an elaborate setup.
Gambits : Keep healing and KO recovery above attacks. Be ready to disable attack Gambits when Perfect Defense makes him immune to all damage.
Dispel: Remove Faith and Bravery when they appear. He is immune to hindering statuses, so do not waste turns trying to debuff him.
Damage: The Undying halves Holy and takes normal damage from the other elements. Scathe Black Magick 70 MP. Deals heavy non-elemental damage to all targets in range. works through a physical Paling, but not through Perfect Defense.
Steal: Equip Thief’s Cuffs and take his Dark Matter Item Deals stored non-elemental damage equal to one third of accumulated Knot of Rust damage, capped at 60,000, then resets the stored total. . There is no later battle to save it for.
Level / HP Level 55 with 228,299 HP. The game does not display his HP bar. Steal Dark Matter .Weak / Absorbs Halves Holy; no elemental weakness or absorption. Immune to hindering statuses. Reward 0 LP and the ending. Drops None. Strategy Dispel Faith and Bravery , maintain Protect, Shell, and Bubble, and keep attacking through his normal phases. Use Scathe during a physical Paling. During Perfect Defense, disable attack Gambits and recover until every barrier expires.
OK… This is pretty creepy. I hope your guys are powerful, heh heh. For fun, I stole a Dark Matter and used that on him. When he starts to get totally immune to physical damage, use Scathe . It is non-elemental and THAT hurts him. When he becomes truly immune to everything, take off your attack Gambits and concentrate on healing yourself. He’ll eventually lose those palings and you’ll be able to hurt him again.
Ending
Now watch a BUNCH of cutscenes. Congratulations! Now just wait for Final Fantasy XIII to come out! Or if you’re reading this after December 2008, go find it in a store and have fun!
