Optional Bosses
This page collects the standalone optional bosses and points to fights that already have better coverage in the route where they become useful. None of these battles is required to finish the story.

Earth Tyrant: The Windvane sidequest opens an alternate passage between Dalmasca Westersand and the northern Estersand. It is not a plot gate; the Nalbina route provides another way north.

First Demon Wall and Demonsbane
The first Demon Wall in the Tomb of Raithwall is optional on the first visit. The normal plan is to run to the far door, defeat the weaker second wall, and return later. An early leveling route can make the first-visit kill possible.

Phoenix
Phoenix waits in the northeastern portion of Penumbra after the Pharos. Defeating it is required to make the Unknown floor available for the Shadowseer hunt, but Phoenix itself is not a Hunt SystemA contracted hunt accepted from its petitioner after reading the notice board. and is not required for the story.
From the Penumbra elevator, enter the northeast quadrant and continue through the unmarked western rooms. The route is only a few rooms long, but the minimap will not show the connecting chambers. Keep broad recovery ready for the surrounding Subterra enemies and save on the Pharos first floor before going down.
Hell Wyrm
Hell Wyrm is the rehearsal for Yiazmat, if a rehearsal can have 8,930,711 HP. Defeating it is required before Montblanc offers the final Yiazmat hunt.

In Sochen Cave Palace, enter Destiny’s March from Falls of Time on the east. Follow the outer Door of Hours circuit already described in the Sochen Cave Palace walkthrough to open the western Ascetic’s Door.

Omega Mark XII

From the Upper Gate Crystal
First follow the Ultima route to the upper Gate Crystal. You do not have to fight EsperThe optional Esper at the Great Crystal's Crystal Peak; absorb Holyja with White Masks or Sage's Rings, clear Reverse before healing, and adapt as the battlefield seals command categories in sequence. to begin the Omega route, but Waystones XVII and XVIII must be available. Save at the Field MechanicA Save Crystal that also enables Teleport Stone travel to other activated Gate Crystals. before touching any timed Gate Stones.
Gate Crystal to Omega Mark XII
From the Field MechanicA Save Crystal that also enables Teleport Stone travel to other activated Gate Crystals., take the path one position clockwise from the entrance used to reach this platform. Use Waystone XVIII to reach Waystone XVII.
Take the only exit. Go right at the next platform, straight across the following platform, and through the center exit at the three-way split to reach the Capricorn Gate Stone.
Activate the Capricorn Gate Stone and backtrack one platform. Take the center exit, then go right to reach the Libra Gate Stone.
Leave the Libra platform by the left path. At the next platform, open Gate Capricorn II on the right.
Backtrack to the Libra Gate Stone and leave by the right path. Go right at the next platform and left at the following platform to reach Waystone XVII.
Use Waystone XVII to reach Waystone XVIII, then take the only exit back to the Field MechanicA Save Crystal that also enables Teleport Stone travel to other activated Gate Crystals.. Save again.
Of the three paths opposite the entrance used to reach the Field MechanicA Save Crystal that also enables Teleport Stone travel to other activated Gate Crystals., take the left path to the Aquarius Gate Stone. Activate it and return to the Field MechanicA Save Crystal that also enables Teleport Stone travel to other activated Gate Crystals..
Go right to Waystone XVIII and use it to reach Waystone XVII. Take the only exit, then go right, straight across, and right again.
Open Gate Aquarius I. Cross the platform, take its only exit on the left, and continue to the Taurus Gate Stone.
Activate the Taurus Gate Stone and backtrack two platforms.
At the second platform, go left. Go right at the next platform to reach the Libra Gate Stone.
Leave by the left path, then take the right path at the next platform and the center path after that.
Open Gate Taurus I, take the only path to Waystone XXI, and use it to reach Waystone XXII.
Follow the only path to Waystone XXIII and use it to reach Waystone XXIV.
The only path from Waystone XXIV leads to Omega. Buff on the bridge before approaching the platform; its attack has extremely long range.
