Northern Feywood

When you get to the Feywood, equip a Time Magick / Status Effect20 MP. Lets all targets in range cross traps safely and avoid Earth-elemental Magick. Gambit and head south. Follow the westernmost wall (that’s the right side, if you are heading south) and you’ll find the back door to the Henne Mines. You don’t want to use this yet, but you’ll want to know where it is. Keep heading south. There are a number of Gambits in treasure chests here, and the map urn can be found on the Walk of Stolen Truths. You can skip the eastern detour, but the glyph route is easier with the map filled in.

Optional Mandragora Farm

After defeating every ordinary enemy in Ice Field of Clearsight, leave the area once and return. Boss PartA Fire-weak member of the five Mandragoras. In the Feywood it can be raised to level 99 by its companions’ Mystery Waltz, so keep the group together and finish it promptly., Boss PartA Wind-weak member of the five Mandragoras. Defeat those three first, use the elemental weaknesses in their buttons, and leave if the group has had time to power itself up. Their Steals and drops are useful, but none is worth losing a long stretch of progress.

Antiquity’s End and Rafflesia

When you get to the save point on the third screen down, Antiquity’s End, BUFF up your characters and save, then head south. You’ll watch a brief cutscene, then you’ll have access to the next area. Go south and prepare for battle with Rafflesia.

You’re going to lose your Magick fast, so use it at the get-go. Cast Dispel, then do Battle SystemA timed sequence of character-specific Quickenings. Use button prompts to add attacks or refill Mist Charges; the attack count here is separate from the enemy-drop Chain system. (I got a 9-hit Battle SystemA timed sequence of character-specific Quickenings. Use button prompts to add attacks or refill Mist Charges; the attack count here is separate from the enemy-drop Chain system.) for about 16,000 points of damage. Now swap out your guys and do it with the other ones! You can steal a Screamroot. As Rafflesia calls in EnemyA Wind-weak Golmore Jungle enemy; its Malboro Vines unlock Burning Blade and Smelling Salts, &c., so collect four before buying either package., be sure to take them out. If you’ve gone after many of the Hunts, this shouldn’t really be a challenge for you. Go back and save when you are done.

White Magick’s Embrace

In the next area down, White Magick’s Embrace, follow the left (east) wall. You should find the Key ItemFound in the southeast urn in White Magick's Embrace; it reveals the Feywood's hidden southern sections on the area map, making both glyph routes easier to follow. in the southeast area; it reveals the hidden southern sections on the map. Montblanc will give you 1,800 gil from the Garif for defeating Rafflesia, BTW.

Continue following the left wall until you reach Ice Field of Clearsight.

Ice Field of Clearsight

When you get there, look at your now-complete map if you collected both urns. See the areas that look like the back of a sand dollar? There are four of them.

Follow the Feywood Glyphs
StepAction
1Go to the structure closest to the entrance, in the northeast, and enter the gazebo-looking thing there. Note to uber nerds: do not taunt the gazebo or shoot arrows at it. It will not respond.
2In the center of the structure, examine the Feywood Glyph. When it says stuff, rotate the camera slowly. One exit from the structure will show a forest illusion.
3Leave through that exit and go to the structure it points to. For my game, it was the one to the northwest on the map.
4Examine the next glyph, rotate the camera, and follow the next forest illusion southwest.
5Repeat once more. The final illusion leads southwest to the exit into The Edge of Reason.

I found it easier to flee to the next one, then fight all the enemies that followed me, rather than trying to find it again after my guys ran off after some enemy and rotated the screen.

The Edge of Reason

When you get to The Edge of Reason, repeat the process. This time there are five structures.

Reach Gigas Gate
StepAction
1Follow the left wall to the southern structure. You can’t do anything with it yet, but there may be a valuable chest along that wall.
2Head to the structure in the center of the area and follow its illusion northwest.
3The northwest structure points south.
4The next structure points southwest again. Follow it to Gigas Gate.
5Summon Belias, touch the gate while he is present, and choose to open it. If no one has acquired Belias’s license yet, do that first.
Deathbringer or Ensanguined Shield Chest

Near the Giruveganus and directly under a trap near Gigas Gate, a chest has a 25% chance to appear. Its special equipment result can be Weapon: SwordA 90-Attack one-handed sword with a 10% chance to inflict instant Death on vulnerable targets. It requires Swords 6 and leaves the off hand free for a shield. or ShieldA 90-Evade shield that permanently inflicts Poison, Sap, and Slow on its wearer. Use it only for a specialized high-evasion setup that can tolerate or exploit those statuses.; the ordinary item result is an ItemRestores 1,600 HP before Potion Lore and item-effect bonuses.. AccessoryChanges treasure contents when equipped by an active party member; it can improve or worsen a specific original-release chest. is not required.

Deathbringer is a strong one-handed sword with a chance to KO its target. Ensanguined Shield has extremely high evasion but permanently inflicts Poison, Sap, and Slow on its wearer, so it is specialized equipment rather than a routine defensive upgrade. Do not grind either unless you have a setup that will actually use it.

The doorway tells you that you have to have the Gigas to get through. That’s Belias, the Gigas, the Esper you obtained in the Tomb of Raithwall. You wouldn’t believe how long it took me to figure that out the first time.

Continue through the opened gate.
