Final Fantasy XII Walkthrough
Final Preparations
Well, This Is It
After a bunch of cutscenes, you’re back in Balfonheim. The Strahl can now fly to Sky Fortress Bahamut, but don’t do that yet unless you are finished with everything you intend to do. You cannot come back once you start that quest.
You can find lots of new weapons, armor, items, and Magicks right here in Balfonheim. Buy what improves the party you actually use instead of replacing every slot just because the shops have shiny new things.
Last Hunts
The notice board in The Whitecap now has Pylraster. Talk to CharacterThe Balfonheim pirate who organizes the Footrace and petitions the Pylraster hunt after the party returns from the Pharos; one race attempt is required, but winning is not. in LocationThe Balfonheim Port lane where Rikken organizes the Footrace and accepts the Pylraster petition after the required first race. after accepting it and race him once; it doesn’t matter whether you win. Pylraster waits outside the Pharos in They Who Thirst Not. The Pylraster hunt card has the exact setup and lets you track the hunt as Accepted and Completed.
Return to Clan Hall and talk to Montblanc. He’ll tell you about Ixion and The Seer. Accept both before returning to Ridorana, then speak to the Whitecap Wench for Ixion. Both hunts use the Pharos Subterra, so start Ixion and Shadowseer, also called The Seer together instead of making two completely separate trips.
If Behemoth King is still waiting, this is a much more comfortable time to handle it. Yiazmat is the last hunt and requires Hell Wyrm plus the other required hunts. That one has more than fifty million HP. It is not remotely fair, but the game preserves its lost HP when you leave correctly, so you can fight it over multiple sessions.
Final Shopping Lap
The most powerful newly sold Magicks are scattered all over Ivalice, because apparently one convenient store would be too much to ask.
| Stop | Buy or collect | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Unlucky Merchant, Dalmasca Estersand | Hastega | Hastes the party in range and makes repeated endgame setup much faster. |
| Lohen, Dalmasca Westersand | Renew | Restores one ally to full HP. Keep it manual or behind a condition that cannot accidentally heal an enemy under Reflect. |
| Burrogh, far north of Barheim Passage | Ardor | The strongest Fire Magick. Oil can make it spectacular, but never automate it against Fire absorption. |
| Hidden Baknamy Merchant, Necrohol of Nabudis | Scathe | Powerful non-elemental Magick for targets whose affinities or barriers make elemental casting awkward. |
| Jovy, Nalbina Fortress | ItemFully restores one ally’s HP and MP. and ItemDeals random non-elemental damage and adds the amount dealt to Dark Matter’s stored-damage total; four can be collected in the Nalbina Dungeon Stockade. | Talk to the running Seeq after raising the clan rank enough; his reward is easy to forget during the final sweep. |
The Shops and Availability page keeps the exact prices and merchant stock together. The hidden Baknamy Merchant is in the Necrohol’s Hall of Effulgent Light; enter through Salikawood and look in the room’s southwest corner.
Optional Cleanup
If you’ve been following along the whole way, you’re almost done. The remaining work depends on what you care about: finish the 13 Espers, clear the optional bosses, finish Rare Game and Hunt Club, claim the Sky Pirate’s Den sprites, complete fishing, or finally admit that racing Rikken one hundred times sounded more fun before you started.
