Emulator Notes
These notes are optional and apply only when playing the original North American PlayStation 2 release through an emulator with save states. Save-state manipulation can reroll random outcomes, but it can also preserve a bad state or make an ordinary mistake harder to unwind.

With save states, make a state immediately before picking up a drop. If the contents are not useful, reload and try again after advancing the game’s random state with an action such as attacking or casting White Magick8 MP. Restores a small amount of HP to one ally and damages an undead target..

Chest Rerolls
Treasure contents are determined when the chest is opened. The basic emulator loop is:
- Make a normal save near the route.
- Create a separate save state before checking whether the chest spawned.
- If it did not spawn, reload, perform one randomizing action, overwrite that save state, and check again.
- When the chest appears, make a new state before opening it.
- If the item is wrong, reload, perform another randomizing action, and reopen it.
Do not assume the AccessoryChanges treasure contents when equipped by an active party member; it can improve or worsen a specific original-release chest. always improves a chest. Some original-game treasure tables change in an unhelpful way when it is equipped.
Slowing Fishing Inputs
The later Fishing stages use fast five-, six-, and eight-button sequences. If those inputs cause pain, fatigue, or missed buttons, use the emulator’s slow-motion or emulation-speed control instead of forcing repeated attempts at full speed.
Start around 75% speed. If that is still uncomfortable, try 50%. Bind the speed toggle to an easy keyboard key or controller button, slow down before CharacterThe South Bank Village fisherman who operates the minigame. Give him Muramata to begin, then Matamune to open the final two fishing stages. displays the sequence, and restore normal speed after the outing. The sequence itself does not change; reducing emulation speed gives you more real time to read and enter it.
Keep an ordinary in-game save before fishing and test one practice outing before chasing a perfect result. Emulator timing and controller polling can differ, so confirm that every D-pad, face-button, and shoulder-button input still registers reliably at the chosen speed.
Diamond Armlet in the Tchita Uplands
A low-spawn chest can appear along the southern border of Garden of Life’s Circle. Teleport to The Chosen Path, travel counterclockwise to the blue Field MechanicRestores HP and MP and permits saving; touching one also breaks a battle Chain. in The Nameless Spring, save normally, and make a state.
Enter Garden of Life’s Circle and flee along the southern edge. If no chest appears before the eastern edge, reload, travel north first, defeat one enemy, update the state, and check again. When the chest appears, save-state before opening it and reroll the contents until it yields the AccessoryChanges treasure contents when equipped by an active party member; it can improve or worsen a specific original-release chest..

Save normally and make a state.
In Crossfield, look for the square gap near the north edge, roughly one quarter of the way west from the transition to The Northsward. The chest can appear along the north edge of that square. If it does not, reload, go south to The Terraced Bank, defeat one enemy, update the state, and check again.
Once the chest appears, save-state before opening it and reroll for a Ribbon. To attempt another Ribbon, travel counterclockwise through Feddik River and make a state before re-entering Crossfield so the chest can respawn.
FWIW, disabling all three characters’ Gambits, standing near the chest, and alternating White Magick8 MP. Restores a small amount of HP to one ally and damages an undead target. casts between checks produced three Ribbons in about 30 minutes with save-state and load-state hotkeys. YMMV.

The same save, randomize, open, and reload method can reroll treasure in Giruvegan and The Great Crystal.
