Battle Mechanics, Chains, and Status Effects
Final Fantasy XII keeps battles running in real time while actions charge. Gambits automate decisions, but their order is still your strategy. Battle Chains

Targeting and Position
- Flying enemies require a ranged weapon, Magick, a suitable item, or TechnickLets a short-range melee weapon attack a flying or distant target, with damage based on weapon Attack and target level..
- Green-bar enemies are normally neutral. Attacking them, stealing from them, or using Magick nearby can provoke them.
- Area attacks punish a tightly grouped party. Spread out when the boss or route panel warns about it.
- A leader-controlled Steal opener works best when the other characters attack the party leader’s target.

Buffs and Debuffs
Protect, Shell, Haste, Green Magick / Status Effect24 MP. Raises one ally’s normal physical attack damage by 30%., Faith, Bubble, Regen, Float, Decoy, and Reverse all have strong uses, but maintaining every buff all the time can empty MP quickly. Boss Fight Prep panels will name the few that materially change each encounter.
