Final Fantasy XII Walkthrough

Light Cruiser Shiva and the Rabanastre Return

Light Cruiser Shiva

You’ll watch an absolute TON of cut scenes, and you’ll eventually have control again. You’ll be in a fairly high-end battle.

You can steal a ItemRestores 400 HP before Potion Lore and item-effect bonuses. from Vossler (or, if you’re truly lucky, a AccessoryMakes the wearer immune to Disable.). Just take out the peons, and then go after him. It should be a fairly quick battle, followed by a bit of cut scene and explanation.

Back in Rabanastre

Watch the cut scenes from Archades. Did you like how you were subtly encouraged to do a little shopping? Heh heh. Let’s see, things to do…

Montblanc’s Rewards

Go talk to Montblanc again. For killing off the second Demon Wall, the Society of Antiquaries will give you 600 gil and a ItemCasts Warp without spending MP and attempts to remove ordinary enemies from battle; it does not work on bosses.. If you managed to defeat the first wall you will get 1,200 gil and a LootMontblanc’s reward for defeating the optional first Demon Wall; it is valuable Loot meant for gil and Bazaar progress, not a usable combat item., too. Eurek will give you two LootLoot enabled by owning the Canopic Jar and used to make High Arcana through the Bazaar. and two ItemConsumed to travel between activated Gate Crystals. for obtaining an Esper.

New Hunts

The Clan Centurio and Hunts page now has full prep, strategy, rewards, anchors, and Accepted/Completed tracking for the new Marks.

July in Nalbina

Optional: Take on the July in Nalbina sidequest. DO THIS!!! It opens the route into the Mosphoran Highwaste, and the first half has a later cutoff.

You can buy a AccessoryDoubles LP earned by the wearer. One Tattered Garment unlocks the Gilt Phylactery Bazaar package containing a Golden Amulet for 3,150 gil. for each of your guys in the Mosphoran Highwaste’s Babbling Vale. These will give your guys LP ×2. Yeah… Even the ones that aren’t fighting! The same merchant now sells AccessoryImproves Steal success and allows multiple items from one target: common 80%, uncommon 30%, and rare 6%.. One pair on your active thief improves every Steal tier and can take more than one item from the same target.

If you can pass the EnemyA passive Barheim enemy that becomes hostile when Magick is cast nearby; defeat it quickly if provoked because repeated growth can end in Self-Destruct. in the Salikawood’s Grand Bower, you can fight some EnemyA dangerous Necrohol enemy available far earlier than intended through the Salikawood detour; its extremely rare Diamond Armor drop is a bonus, not a reason the route requires this fight. enemies just beyond. These guys have an incredibly rare drop of Heavy ArmorHeavy body armor available far earlier than normal as an extremely rare Baknamy drop in the Necrohol; confirm the License first and treat it as a dangerous optional bonus, not a route requirement., which is lightyears ahead of anything else you’ll have at this point. I’ve only had it drop when I wasn’t chaining them, BTW.

Bazaar Opportunities

The optional northern route can unlock Bazaar GoodSell Throat Wolf Blood ×1 to unlock Battle Harness for 800 gil. Shopping Time

You can pick up a slew of new Gambits.

Pick up new Technicks: TechnickRepeatedly reduces one target’s Magick Resist; all enemies are susceptible. and TechnickAdds a random elemental weakness to one target unless it has the Safety augment.. Traveler and TechnickDeals doubling fixed area damage on successive hits, but a miss resets the shared party counter to 1. were already available after the Leviathan escape if you skipped them then.

Pick up Arcane Magick / Status Effect10 MP. Makes one target mistake allies for foes., Arcane Magick20 MP. Attempts to remove one quarter of every target’s maximum HP in an area., White Magick / Status Effect16 MP. Gradually restores one ally’s HP over time., and White Magick24 MP. Removes many common negative statuses from one ally, but not every condition..

Buy some cool armor. Heavy Armor20 Defense and +4 Strength, and requires Heavy Armor 4. It is sold after obtaining the Dawn Shard and can also be a rare Aerieel drop. is the obvious new heavy option.

Buy some cool weapons. Weapon: Gun18 Attack and requires Guns 2. Guns ignore Defense and require equipped shot; compare it with Vega before spending gil because ammunition can matter more than the small Attack increase. and Weapon: Bow45 Attack and requires Bows 3. It needs equipped arrows and can hit Flying enemies; compare it with a Killer Bow or an early Loxley Bow before buying. are among the new possibilities, but compare them with the early Shop SystemSelling Loot increments hidden ingredient counters and unlocks packages; buying a package resets every ingredient counter it used. and sidequest weapons before spending the gil.

Buy ItemRemoves Confuse from one target.. It’s about time. Stock up, boys and girls.

Rabanastre Errands

Talk to Migelo.

Head to Lowtown and talk to Dalan. Well, not really a great conversation, I guess. And DON’T OPEN THE CHEST. The linked Lowtown treasure still matters to the guaranteed Weapon: Spear150 Attack. The guaranteed original-release copy is lost if any of four linked treasure groups are opened first..

You can also finish Desert Patient and the Barheim Key. Restoring the ferry, returning the lost cactoid, and delivering the full medicine set opens the optional Barheim Passage return.

The Extremely Optional Necrohol Grind

I don’t actually recommend this, but technically you can level grind to the point that you can actually not die in the Necrohol of Nabudis. If you want to go that route, I strongly recommend you get everyone all three of their Battle SystemA character-specific special attack that consumes one, two, or three Mist Charges during a timed chain. before attempting it. You can even get the Weapon: Spear150 Attack. The guaranteed original-release copy is lost if any of four linked treasure groups are opened first. from the Cloister of the Highborn in the middle of the Necrohol. Yes, I’ve done it; no, it’s not worth the grind to get it this early in the game.

Giza Plains: The Rains

Anyway, after you’ve had your fill, head to Southgate and save your game, then go out onto the Giza Plains. There are new and harder enemies here.

EnemyA passive Piranha-family enemy in North Spur Sluiceway; it is weak to Lightning and supplies Fish Scales and Water Stones., EnemyA passive rainy-Giza beast that becomes hostile when provoked; it is weak to Earth and can supply Braid Wool or a rare Sirius Steal., EnemyA passive rainy-Giza titantoise weak to Fire; its useful results include Turtle Shell, Water Magicite, and a rare Soldier’s Cap Steal., EnemyA passive rainy-Giza elemental that becomes hostile around Magick; avoid provoking it while underleveled because original-PS2 sources also conflict on its weakness., and EnemyA level-45 rainy-Giza elemental; do not use Magick nearby or provoke it during this visit. are passive until provoked. That does not make the last two safe: avoid casting Magick near the Elemental-family enemies, and run if one turns hostile. EnemyA much stronger rainy-Giza titantoise weak to Fire; do not confuse it with Great Tortoise, and be ready for more than 12,000 HP. is also much stronger than the ordinary EnemyA passive rainy-Giza titantoise weak to Fire; its useful results include Turtle Shell, Water Magicite, and a rare Soldier’s Cap Steal..

You can take care of a few optional sidequests, or just level up a bit, if you want. I don’t think this is one of the best places to level up, though. Head south toward the Ozmone Plain.
