Final Fantasy X Walkthrough
Sin
When you have beaten all the side quests you want to (or can), it’s time to head to Sin.
Get on the airship, talk to Cid, and select Sin from the NavMap. Let’s take out Final BossFinal opponent after the possessed-aeon sequence; Gravija damages everyone on the field, including Yu Yevon, and damage triggers a Curaga counter.. Watch some cutscenes.
You should have an opportunity to talk with Rin here. If you’ve managed to pick up all the Al Bhed Primers and have not claimed the reward yet, Tidus will speak Al Bhed and Rin will give you 99 ItemRare Mix material used to customize Double Overdrive.. That is enough to add Equipment AbilityDoubles the rate at which the equipped character's Overdrive gauge charges. to three weapons.
Spend any Character GrowthMovement resource earned through AP and spent to travel between nodes on the Sphere Grid., buy whatever you need, save, and head to the deck, of course. After a great deal of cutscenes, it’s time to fight.
Sin’s Left Fin
The airship begins outside melee range. A weaker party can stay there and use Wakka, Lulu, Holy, and AeonNon-elemental aeon acquired in Bevelle whose attacks can exceed the normal 9,999 damage limit without a powered Celestial Weapon. while Sin spends most of its turns doing nothing. If you move in, SkillPhysical attack that attempts to reduce the target's Defense to zero and remove Armored protection. makes an enormous difference, but Boss AbilitySin's Fin attack against the active party that also delays their upcoming turns. delays the whole party and Boss AbilityParty-wide Gravity attack that removes 75% of each target's current HP but cannot KO by itself. removes 75% of everyone’s current HP. It cannot kill by itself, but the next hit certainly can.
If your guys are powerful enough (especially if you’ve been challenging the Omega Ruins or fighting in the Monster Arena), cutting a hole here should be kind of a trivial exercise. I think I just had Yuna cast Holy. You should get an Sphere GridTurns an empty node into an HP +300 node. from this, two if you Battle SystemFinishing an enemy with at least its required final-hit damage threshold, commonly improving AP or item rewards. it. I also got a Venom Spike weapon.
Sin’s Right Fin
The other side works the same way, and the game does not restore the party between the two fights. Heal first. I had Yuna Special AbilityCasts two Blk Magic spells in one turn, paying both MP costs.Blk MagicDeals very heavy non-elemental magic damage to all enemies. for the win. Bwahahahahahaha! It’s a white mage casting black magic against the main boss. Well, I found it funny. Watch Cid do some serious damage and rip off the other wing.
Sinspawn Genais and Sin’s Core
Again, if you’ve been doing other side quests, you’ll likely walk right through this section. Steal the ItemUse item that grants Reflect to one character for the battle. from Genais and the ItemUse item that drains up to 400 HP from one enemy. from the Core before you do, though. Take out Genais first if you plan to use magic. You should get a Sphere GridMoves one character to any node that character previously activated. and an Sphere GridTurns an empty node into an MP +40 node. from this, two of each with Battle SystemFinishing an enemy with at least its required final-hit damage threshold, commonly improving AP or item rewards..
Rah rah rah. Blah blah blah.
When you regain control, spend any new Character GrowthMovement resource earned through AP and spent to travel between nodes on the Sphere Grid., restock, and save. Head to the outer hull and talk to Yuna. After a bunch more cutscenes, return to the outer hull for another fight.
Overdrive Sin
Have your non-Yuna characters use powerful black magic while Sin is out of range, then bring in AeonNon-elemental aeon acquired in Bevelle whose attacks can exceed the normal 9,999 damage limit without a powered Celestial Weapon. when it gets close. Or just have AeonNon-elemental aeon acquired in Bevelle whose attacks can exceed the normal 9,999 damage limit without a powered Celestial Weapon. hit twice at 99,999 each; that works too. Aeon AbilityBahamut's non-elemental special attack against all enemies. for the win. Hang on a sec… If AeonNon-elemental aeon acquired in Bevelle whose attacks can exceed the normal 9,999 damage limit without a powered Celestial Weapon. has wings, how can an enemy be out of range…? Winning earns another Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 3 locked node on the Sphere Grid. or two.
NOTE: If you can’t defeat him before he casts Boss AbilityOverdrive Sin's ultimate attack, causing an immediate Game Over regardless of defense, aeons, or Auto-Life., go fill out the monster arena and/or finish the Omega Ruins then try again. An Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. cannot shield the party, and Wht MagicGrants a status that automatically revives the target once when KO'd. will not save it.
When you have control again, save your game and head into Sin.
Inside Sin: Sea of Sorrow
All nine fiends have separate Inside Sin capture records, including separate records for FiendSword-bearing Gemini that absorbs Fire and Lightning; it has a separate Monster Arena capture record from the club form. and FiendClub-bearing Gemini that absorbs Ice and Water; it has a separate Monster Arena capture record from the sword form.. The Sea of Sorrow initially contains FiendInside Sin mushroom fiend that counters surviving physical damage with status-inflicting Pollen and is weak to Fire., both Gemini forms, FiendArmored late-game fiend that absorbs Fire; Armor Break and status attacks make its large HP pool manageable., FiendInside Sin fiend whose death counter is a powerful party-wide Meteor; Provoke and a counterattack finish can avoid it., and the familiar EnemyFloating-eye fiend found in the Mt. Gagazet cave and Zanarkand Ruins and required for the regional capture set.. The other four appear after BossGuado maester fought at Macalania Temple in a three-phase battle involving two Guado Guardians and Anima. in the City of Dying Dreams.
FiendInside Sin fiend whose death counter is a powerful party-wide Meteor; Provoke and a counterattack finish can avoid it. is the immediate problem. Its final Meteor can wipe out the party. Provoke limits its behavior and sets up a Equipment AbilityCounters damage from a physical attack with a basic physical attack when possible. finish, which prevents the death counter. On later versions, a Capture-weapon finishing blow also suppresses Meteor until that character has already captured ten FiendInside Sin fiend whose death counter is a powerful party-wide Meteor; Provoke and a counterattack finish can avoid it.. Do not count on that shortcut in the original North American PS2 release; Protect, Defend, or a Equipment AbilityCounters damage from a physical attack with a basic physical attack when possible. finish works everywhere.
The map fills itself in as you explore, and the waterfalls force a few long loops.
Sea of Sorrow treasure route
Step
Action
1
Pass the spinning cylinder things and take the sharp right. At the first floor glyph, head left.
2
At the next glyph, bear right after the camera shifts. Continue straight at the following glyph; after another camera shift, “straight” appears up and right.
3
At the waterfall, head left. At the next glyph, turn left from Tidus’s point of view, which appears toward the lower right of the screen. At the following glyph, turn right toward the lower left and open the EquipmentFixed four-slot Yuna armor inside Sin with Fire Eater, Lightning Eater, Ice Eater, and one empty slot. chest.
4
Turn around, pass that glyph, and continue along the right side of the screen to the chest containing a Sphere GridActivates any Special ability node that another character has already activated..
5
Ignore the nearby waterfall. Backtrack past the Phantom Ring branch, continue north beyond the earlier junction, and take the short offshoot for an ItemFully restores one character's HP and MP..
6
Follow the long curve until the path heads south. Take the branch beside the next waterfall for the EquipmentFixed Kimahri weapon inside Sin with Magic +3%, Magic +5%, Magic +10%, and one empty slot..
7
Return to the branch immediately before the EquipmentFixed Kimahri weapon inside Sin with Magic +3%, Magic +5%, Magic +10%, and one empty slot. and take the eastern path. Open the nearby chest for a Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 3 locked node on the Sphere Grid..
8
Continue north, turn east when the path allows it, and follow the remaining linear route to the Field SystemField sphere used to save and restore the party's HP and MP; later spheres also connect to the airship. at the bottom of the stairs.
The Phantom Ring has Equipment AbilityAbsorbs Fire-elemental damage as HP., Equipment AbilityAbsorbs Lightning-elemental damage as HP., and Equipment AbilityAbsorbs Ice-elemental damage as HP., making it excellent protection for the next fight. Save, equip elemental protection on the rest of the active party, remove elemental Strike weapons that could heal the boss, and head up the stairs.
Seymour Omnis
Cool music here, I must admit. The four Boss MechanicOne of four indestructible colored wheels behind Seymour Omnis; its facing edge changes his elemental defenses and spells. behind BossGuado maester fought at Macalania Temple in a three-phase battle involving two Guado Guardians and Anima. are red for Fire, yellow for Lightning, blue for Water, and white for Ice. The colors facing him determine both what he casts and what he resists. Physical attacks rotate a wheel counterclockwise; magic rotates it clockwise. Wakka and Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. are the only physical attackers who can reach them.
BossGuado maester fought at Macalania Temple in a three-phase battle involving two Guado Guardians and Anima. starts with all four wheels on Fire, so he opens with four Firagas and absorbs Fire. Wht MagicMakes each active party member nullify one incoming Fire-elemental hit. cancels the first hit against each party member; rotating one wheel also downgrades the odd spell to its -ra version. He does not cure himself, and he no longer Banishes Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle.. That seems odd to me, but whatever.
Be sure to swap in everyone who needs AP; you get a good amount from this battle. I had everyone else wear him down, and then I had Yuna smack him with her rod. It was most entertaining. You can steal a ItemUse item that deals heavy non-elemental magic damage to one enemy. or a rare ItemUse item that deals 9,999 non-elemental damage to all enemies. from him. :) Go back and save if you want, then continue on.
City of Dying Dreams
Touch the glyph on the wall to your right after entering the City. It says, “Ten fiends still seek eternal repose.” The three doors require 10, then 10 more, then 15 more individual fiend kills, for 35 total. Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. finishing blows do not count. The nearby Field SystemField sphere used to save and restore the party's HP and MP; later spheres also connect to the airship. keeps your guys healthy while you work.
When all three seals open, you finally get… Are you ready??? A lousy Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 4 locked node on the Sphere Grid.. Whee. At least the battles can fill your Inside Sin capture records while you are doing it.

1
Leave the sealed-door alcove and continue until you see a bridge-looking shiny piece of floor. Stand on it and confirm to make it rise. Open the chest at the top for EquipmentFixed Wakka weapon inside Sin carrying Firestrike, Icestrike, Lightningstrike, and Waterstrike..
2
Ride back down and look for the blue floor tile just beyond the elevator. Stand on it and confirm; Tidus pushes over the column, making a bridge to EquipmentFixed Auron armor on the Mt. Gagazet trail with Silenceproof and Darkproof..
3
Continue to the open room with glowing floor tiles and a wall glyph. Head down into the little pit for 20,000 Gil.
4
Step on the glowing tile in the pit, but don’t fall off! Just kidding. You can’t fall off. Follow the raised path to the Sphere GridTurns an empty node into an HP +300 node., then continue around the corner for a Sphere GridTurns an empty node into a Defense +4 node.. Use the next blue tile to return to the main floor.
5
Before leaving that room, search the southwest corner for a well-hidden passage. Touch the glyph at the end and open the hidden chest for a ItemFully restores the active party's HP and MP..
6
Continue into the room where columns pop out of the floor. Use the southern side passage and slide to the lower level. Open the chest there for EquipmentFixed one-slot Yuna weapon inside Sin with SOS Overdrive., then climb the ledges back up.
