| Aeon | Where | Requirements | Earliest practical window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yojimbo | Cavern of the Stolen Fayth | Defeat Yojimbo, then negotiate and pay for his service | After reaching the Calm Lands and defeating Defender X |
| Anima | Baaj Temple | Airship access plus all six Cloister Destruction Sphere treasures | Late-game airship cleanup, after the Zanarkand return treasure |

Yojimbo
AeonOptional aeon hired in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth; his action depends on Gil, hidden compatibility, Overdrive, target, and the recruitment answer. waits at the end of the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth route. Defeat him, use the teleporter to collect the side-room treasure, then point the teleporter north to reach the Chamber of the Fayth. Make sure it is not accidentally pointing down. >.>
When AeonOptional aeon hired in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth; his action depends on Gil, hidden compatibility, Overdrive, target, and the recruitment answer. asks why you want his service, choose “To defeat the most powerful of enemies.” That one-time answer favors his best attack against bosses and superbosses, which is where Aeon AbilityYojimbo's instant-defeat attack; its selection depends on payment, compatibility, Overdrive, target resistance, recruitment answer, and chance. is actually useful. He then asks for 250,000 Gil. The easiest and least error-prone option is to pay him what he’s asking and give him a name. Bargaining does not make AeonOptional aeon hired in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth; his action depends on Gil, hidden compatibility, Overdrive, target, and the recruitment answer. perform worse after recruitment. If cash is tight, a careful negotiation can hire him for 190,350 Gil.
Optional: bargain down to 190,350 Gil
Offer 125,001 Gil, then 112,501 Gil, then 141,751 Gil, and finally accept at 190,350 Gil. Pause for several seconds before entering each new offer; racing through the bids can change how the sequence resolves. If an offer is rejected, you can return and begin the negotiation again without damaging AeonOptional aeon hired in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth; his action depends on Gil, hidden compatibility, Overdrive, target, and the recruitment answer. later compatibility. Paying triple the initial asking price can add two Sphere GridMoves one character to any node that any character has activated., but 750,000 Gil for that bonus is unlikely to be an affordable luxury for you on your first (or even 5th) visit.
AeonOptional aeon hired in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth; his action depends on Gil, hidden compatibility, Overdrive, target, and the recruitment answer. is a relationship with a sword budget
AeonOptional aeon hired in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth; his action depends on Gil, hidden compatibility, Overdrive, target, and the recruitment answer. does not accept direct attack commands. His hidden compatibility with Yuna, the amount you pay, his Battle SystemCharacter or aeon special attack resource charged according to the active Overdrive mode. gauge, the target, and your original recruitment answer all influence what he does. Good attacks improve compatibility; paying nothing, dismissing him immediately, or letting him be KO’d hurts it. Aeon AbilityYojimbo's instant-defeat attack; its selection depends on payment, compatibility, Overdrive, target resistance, recruitment answer, and chance. can defeat almost anything, but no sensible route should describe it as guaranteed. Save before a battle if your strategy depends on it.
After hiring him, teleport back to the entrance and save. Grab the Key ItemKey item placed at the Mushroom Rock statue to reveal Masamune's Celestial seal. from the side path outside the cavern if you have not already; it begins Auron’s Masamune route.

Remiem Temple
Once chocobo riding is available in the Calm Lands, ride back toward the southeast entrance and examine the ItemUse item that grants Haste to one character for the battle. on the ground. The chocobo jumps to the lower path leading across the bridge to Remiem Temple. Save before starting the sidequests, pick up Al Bhed Primer XXIV outside, and then decide whether you want the race, CharacterTraveling summoner who challenges Yuna to optional aeon duels and awards items whether Yuna wins or loses. battles, or both.
Chocobo race and Cloudy Mirror
Examine the sphere beside the champion chocobo on the west side, then speak to the chocobo on the east side. Reach the finish before the champion. Your first win always gives the Cloudy Mirror and replaces the ordinary chest-count prize for that run.
On later victories, each special prize can be won once. Open the target number of chests without touching a pole:
| Chests | Prize |
|---|---|
| 0 or a pole hit | Potion |
| 1 | Elixir |
| 2 | Megalixir |
| 3 | Wings to Discovery ×30 |
| 4 | Pendulum ×30 |

If Kimahri knows Steal and you collect the 30 ItemRare Mix material used to customize Master Thief. before Mt. Gagazet, Equipment AbilityMakes every successful Steal or Mug take the target's rare item. guarantees the rare two-sphere result every time his Steal succeeds against Biran or Yenke. It does not improve the shrinking chance that repeated Steals will succeed, so choose an armor you are willing to keep.
The champion changes routes as you open chests quickly enough. For the five-chest prize, the first four pickups need to be crisp so the opponent commits to its longest route. Six chests is not a legitimate target. Take the Cloudy Mirror to the lost-family crystal in Macalania Woods to restore the Celestial Mirror.
Belgemine’s aeon battles
CharacterTraveling summoner who challenges Yuna to optional aeon duels and awards items whether Yuna wins or loses. only offers Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. Yuna already owns, and Yuna cannot summon the same Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. CharacterTraveling summoner who challenges Yuna to optional aeon duels and awards items whether Yuna wins or loses. is using. Losing or escaping does not cause a Game Over. Summon an Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. that absorbs the opponent’s element when possible, use elemental Black Magic to heal it, raise useful stats with Cheer, Focus, Reflex, or Aim, and Shield against incoming Overdrives. Save between fights. I kinda recommend it. ;)
If you missed both key items at earlier CharacterTraveling summoner who challenges Yuna to optional aeon duels and awards items whether Yuna wins or loses. encounters, AeonYuna's first aeon, a flying non-elemental summon whose starting Overdrive is Energy Ray and whose second is Energy Blast. awards Key ItemKey item that allows Yuna to teach abilities to aeons by spending items. instead of ItemUse item that strikes random enemies five times with Lightning damage. and AeonYuna's second aeon, a Fire-elemental summon obtained at Kilika Temple that absorbs Fire damage. awards Key ItemKey item that allows Yuna to improve an aeon's attributes by spending spheres. instead of ItemRestores 9,999 HP to one character.. For the last fight, I opted not to play fair at all. A sufficiently developed AeonNon-elemental aeon acquired in Bevelle whose attacks can exceed the normal 9,999 damage limit without a powered Celestial Weapon. can erase the Sisters with Aeon OverdriveBahamut's non-elemental Overdrive, which can exceed the normal 9,999 damage limit.. If that is no longer true for your party, target Cindy first because she can heal the group, then Sandy, then Mindy.
After defeating the AeonOptional three-member aeon consisting of Cindy, Sandy, and Mindy, unlocked at Remiem Temple after obtaining Yojimbo and Anima., send CharacterTraveling summoner who challenges Yuna to optional aeon duels and awards items whether Yuna wins or loses. to receive the Key ItemYuna's sigil for the final Nirvana upgrade in the North American English PS2 release.. If you decline, you must defeat her Sisters again before she offers another chance. The sigil completes Yuna’s Nirvana.
Magus Sisters
The sealed door behind CharacterTraveling summoner who challenges Yuna to optional aeon duels and awards items whether Yuna wins or loses. requires all four of these conditions:
- Own AeonOptional aeon hired in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth; his action depends on Gil, hidden compatibility, Overdrive, target, and the recruitment answer..
- Own AeonSeymour's aeon, first fought at Macalania Temple; Pain inflicts instant death and Oblivion strikes the opposing party repeatedly..

- Receive the Key ItemMonster Arena reward for capturing every Mt. Use the Key ItemReward for defeating Belgemine's Bahamut and one of the two seal items needed for the Magus Sisters. and Key ItemMonster Arena reward for capturing every Mt. Gagazet fiend and one of the two seal items needed for the Magus Sisters. at the door to open the Chamber of the Fayth and receive Cindy, Sandy, and Mindy as one three-member summon. You cannot give the Sisters direct conventional commands or teach them new abilities. Name all three, then immediately re-enter the chamber for a Sphere GridTurns an empty node into a Defense +4 node..
The source boundary matters here: the Key ItemMonster Arena reward for capturing every Mt. Gagazet fiend and one of the two seal items needed for the Magus Sisters. belongs to Mt. Gagazet capture completion, not to finishing the Mt. Gagazet story sequence. If the Arena owner does not hand it over, compare your capture list against the Monster Arena checklist rather than revisiting the mountain blindly.
