Final Fantasy X Walkthrough

Final Battles and Epilogue

Remove your EquipmentA Monster Arena weapon carrying the Capture ability., spend every useful Character GrowthMovement resource earned through AP and spent to travel between nodes on the Sphere Grid., charge the Overdrives you care about, equip your baddest weapons and armor, and use the final Field SystemField sphere used to save and restore the party's HP and MP; later spheres also connect to the airship.. If you captured ten of every fiend and beat the Omega Ruins without hiding behind Equipment AbilityPrevents random encounters while the relevant equipment is worn., you are more than ready. A normal route party can finish too, but Equipment AbilityPrevents Petrification unless the incoming effect ignores immunity. armor will make the real final battle much less unpleasant.

From the Field SystemField sphere used to save and restore the party's HP and MP; later spheres also connect to the airship., head straight ahead until something falls on you. Well, not on you, but pretty darn close. Notice Tidus is just totally blown away by this. >.> What?

Touch the purple glyph on the fallen tower. You are now stuck playing until you die or finish the game. If you don’t have Equipment AbilityAllows damage from the equipped character to exceed the normal 9,999 cap., expect to spend at least an hour on this. Have enough uninterrupted time before you start.

The Nucleus: Gems Galore

When you touch the big cylinder thing, you are teleported inside it. Run around looking for ten glowing crystals while trying not to hit the ice columns that pop out of the ground. Descending pyreflies mark where a crystal is about to appear. The crystals disappear if you do not reach them quickly enough, while touching an ice spike starts a forced battle. More spikes appear, and they move faster, as you collect more crystals.

In my run, the spikes seemed to work counterclockwise around the cylinder, but the rotating camera makes that more of an observation than a dependable route. Keep moving, look for the falling pyreflies, and do not panic if a crystal vanishes. Another will appear.

The ten rewards arrive in random order, but you receive all ten before the Nucleus sends you onward:

The ice-spike encounters can include familiar Inside Sin fiends, plus FiendLarge worm found only in Sin's Nucleus beyond the point of no return; touching an ice spike can trigger the encounter. and FiendLate-game spellcaster that opens with Haste; repeatedly dispelling it can trap Varuna into recasting Haste instead of attacking.. FiendLarge worm found only in Sin's Nucleus beyond the point of no return; touching an ice spike can trigger the encounter. has a large HP pool but nothing especially clever. FiendLate-game spellcaster that opens with Haste; repeatedly dispelling it can trap Varuna into recasting Haste instead of attacking. always opens by casting Haste before the party can act; Wht MagicRemoves most positive status effects and all four Break effects from one target. it, and it will usually waste its next turn casting Haste again. There is no reason to work on captures here because nothing beyond the final Field SystemField sphere used to save and restore the party's HP and MP; later spheres also connect to the airship. can be saved.

After the tenth crystal, you are transported to Dream’s End. You regain control before the fight, so heal, spend those final three spheres if they help, equip Equipment AbilityPrevents Petrification unless the incoming effect ignores immunity., and walk toward Jecht.

Braska’s Final Aeon

Jecht transforms into BossJecht's transformed final-boss form, fought in two phases while two reviving Yu Pagodas heal him and charge his Overdrive gauge., with two Boss HelperOne of two reviving helpers that heal Braska's Final Aeon, clear his negative statuses, and increase his Overdrive gauge with Power Wave. circling behind him.

The Boss HelperOne of two reviving helpers that heal Braska's Final Aeon, clear his negative statuses, and increase his Overdrive gauge with Power Wave. are out of ordinary melee range, so Wakka, magic, items, and abilities that reach distant targets are the practical ways to stop them. I used Holy on the Left and Right Boss HelperOne of two reviving helpers that heal Braska's Final Aeon, clear his negative statuses, and increase his Overdrive gauge with Power Wave. and made them stop. This gives you a few turns without Boss AbilityYu Pagoda support move that restores 1,500 HP to Braska's Final Aeon, removes his negative statuses, and raises his Overdrive gauge., but they always come back. Each returns with maximum HP equal to the total damage used to disable it on the previous cycle, so do not waste a 99,999-damage hit on one unless you plan to finish Jecht before it wakes up.

Boss AbilityBraska's Final Aeon attack that damages one character and inflicts Petrification. can Petrify one character, and a later physical hit can shatter that character out of the battle. His first-form Boss AbilityTwo-hit Braska's Final Aeon Overdrive against one party member; its first-form version also inflicts Zombie. hits one target twice and adds Status EffectCauses most healing and revival effects to damage the target instead of restoring it.; against an Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. he uses Boss AbilityBraska's Final Aeon Overdrive used against a summoned aeon in place of Triumphant Grasp. instead. When his Battle SystemCharacter or aeon special attack resource charged according to the active Overdrive mode. gauge gets close to full, either use Tidus’s Trigger CommandTidus-only command during Braska's Final Aeon that empties Jecht's Overdrive gauge; it works twice total across both forms. command or be prepared to sacrifice an Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle..

When his first 60,000 HP reaches zero, surprise!!! He pulls a sword out of his chest and gets 120,000 HP for the second form. His normal sword swipe now hits the entire party and delays their turns. Below half HP, a full Battle SystemCharacter or aeon special attack resource charged according to the active Overdrive mode. gauge produces Boss AbilityBraska's Final Aeon's party-wide second-form Overdrive after his HP falls below half. against everyone, which is the moment you were saving Talk for.

I find it gratifying to end this run with a single 99,999-damage Mug from Tidus. The second form then received more 99,999-damage hits, which did not leave much room for Jecht to explain his strategy.

Yuna’s Aeons

After a few cutscenes, Yuna has to summon every Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. she owns. Final BossFinal opponent after the possessed-aeon sequence; Gravija damages everyone on the field, including Yu Yevon, and damage triggers a Curaga counter. possesses each one, and you have to defeat it. Optional aeons only join the sequence if you acquired them, and an Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. that has already been called, possessed, and defeated is gone. This is why starting with your most difficult one can help: you may still summon one of the others against it.

Do not worry about dying. You have permanent Wht MagicGrants a status that automatically revives the target once when KO'd. from here through the end of the game. If you have Equipment AbilityAllows damage from the equipped character to exceed the normal 9,999 cap., you will probably find this rather easy. Yuna will cry between each battle, but you know she secretly likes hurting her Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle.. :) But I digress. (Frequently.)

My guys had finished the Arena and overkilled every Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. before any of them got a hit. Your own Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. may be much stronger or weaker, because their HP and statistics come from your save. Even if one wipes out the party, everyone gets back up. Take your time and say goodbye.

Yu Yevon

Once all your Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. are gone, you get to fight Yu. He’s tough. Well, no, he really isn’t, but that is what the final boss paragraph is supposed to say. You still cannot lose through ordinary damage because permanent Wht MagicGrants a status that automatically revives the target once when KO'd. remains active.

The original strategy used Wht MagicGrants Shell, halving most magical damage to one target. on him to reduce the amount Wht MagicRestores a large amount of HP to one target and damages targets with Zombie. restores, then Special AbilityCasts two Blk Magic spells in one turn, paying both MP costs. Blk MagicDeals very heavy non-elemental magic damage to one enemy. or Blk MagicDeals very heavy non-elemental magic damage to all enemies. so each turn did more damage than he could heal. Wht MagicGrants Reflect, bouncing most magic away from one target. and Status EffectCauses most healing and revival effects to damage the target instead of restoring it. are faster ways to abuse the same counter. If you have Equipment AbilityAllows damage from the equipped character to exceed the normal 9,999 cap., just hit harder than 9,999. I got him with a single 99,999 Battle SystemFinishing an enemy with at least its required final-hit damage threshold, commonly improving AP or item rewards.. :D I used Auron, for maximum irony.

Epilogue

Once you defeat him, you will see the impact this has on everyone around the world. Oh never mind, just watch the cutscenes. If you do not know what something means, just think for a while. You will figure it out eventually.

Oh alright. One more thing. Watch the credits. All of them. ;) When you see the words “The End,” Stop. That is enough. ;) Unless you would like to listen to the music again.

Congratulations. Now it is time to play FFX-2. ;)
