Final Fantasy X Walkthrough
Mi’ihen Highroad
You Take the Highroad
Before you get too far down the road, there is one easy-to-forget bit of unfinished business back in Luca.
Continue along the Highroad until you get to the end. You may want to level up a little bit here; FiendHard-hitting horned fiend on the Mi'ihen Highroad that drops early Ability Spheres and teaches Kimahri Fire Breath through Lancet. have those Ability Spheres you’re probably looking for about now (assuming you didn’t spend a lot of time fighting fish early on), and Kimahri can learn Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned from Dual Horn that deals Fire-elemental damage to all enemies. from them. FiendFire-absorbing floating fiend that grows when attacked and explodes after its third growth; Kimahri can learn Self-Destruct from it. The Home and Airship version is much stronger than the early Highroad Bomb. can also teach him Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned from Bomb that deals damage based on three times his maximum HP, then removes him from the battle; he returns afterward with 1 HP., although removing Kimahri from the battle to do a large amount of damage is considerably more dramatic than it is economical.
There are various people you’ll run across here. Talk to them for cool stuff. You are talking to everyone on the road, right? On the South End, the man in the yellow shirt gives you a ItemRestores 1,000 HP to one character., the girl gives you two ItemRemoves Poison from one character., and the man near the north end gives Kimahri a EquipmentKimahri weapon given by a traveler on the Mi'ihen Highroad, carrying Piercing, Sensor, and Strength +10%. with Piercing, Sensor, and Equipment AbilityWeapon ability that raises the wielder's Strength by 10% of the base stat.. Before leaving this screen, walk behind the large circular ruin with the light-blue middle for an EquipmentTidus weapon found behind the circular ruin on the Mi'ihen Highroad, carrying Icestrike..
On the next section, talk to the fast-moving Crusader for a EquipmentLulu armor given by a Crusader on the Mi'ihen Highroad, carrying HP +10% and Fire Ward.. Talk to the boy before you kick his MinigameSpira's underwater team sport and recurring minigame; successful actions earn player EXP, and later prizes include Wakka's Overdrives and Celestial Weapon components. to receive three ItemRemoves Petrification from one character.; apparently manners are worth actual prizes in Spira. Elma is guarding a small eastern branch with a chest containing a ItemRemoves most standard status ailments from one character..
The Central section has more people with pockets full of presents. The female Crusader gives four ItemRemoves Poison from one character., the men give 600 Gil and your first Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 1 locked node on the Sphere Grid., and the eastern branch has a chest containing 2,000 Gil. Continue north until you meet another summoner.

Belgemine’s Ifrit

Losing gives you a EquipmentYuna armor name used for HP +10% equipment, including the Besaid dock gift and Belgemine's consolation reward on the Mi'ihen Highroad. instead. CharacterTraveling summoner who challenges Yuna to optional aeon duels and awards items whether Yuna wins or loses. leaves after the battle, but you’ll run into her later. Every time you do, be sure to accept her challenges so you can get some great items.
Continue north. After the chocobo cart passes, follow the Crusaders to the right and talk to them. Gatta and Luzzu are funny. Back on the main road, the Crusader along the west side gives you an ItemRestores 100 MP to one character., and the woman in the maroon skirt gives you a ItemRestores 1,000 HP to one character.. A little farther up the road is a young lady named Shelinda. Talk to her, open the nearby chest for three ItemRemoves Darkness from one character., then continue to Rin’s Travel Agency.
Oh Here She Comes; She’s a Chocobo Eater!
When you wake up, talk to people, then go outside and talk to Yuna. Pay attention and you’ll learn something. When you wake up again, be sure to talk to the kid; he’ll give you your second Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 1 locked node on the Sphere Grid..
FWIW, I like to have Kimahri use both of these to jump across to Rikku’s Character GrowthFFX character-development board where Sphere Levels move a character and spheres activate reached nodes. so I can have another character learn Use and Steal. Having Kimahri know these is really helpful later on. Especially Use! The Sphere Grid guide’s Kimahri route shows the two-lock path, but don’t grind here merely to force the crossing before the next battle.
When you try to leave, Rin stops you and gives you Key ItemOne of 26 volumes that progressively translates the Al Bhed language. plus two ItemRestores 2,000 HP to every active party member.. After the chocobos are attacked, save your game. You have one last opportunity to level or shop by leaving through the southern path, but when you’re ready to continue, go around behind the building to the Chocobo Corral.

Decide which reward you want. Pushing the BossMi'ihen boss that can be killed normally or pushed off the northern cliff for two Lv. 1 Key Spheres; it can also push the party off the southern cliff. off the northern cliff earns two Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 1 locked node on the Sphere Grid. and a free chocobo ride; reducing its HP to zero also earns the ride and allows an Battle SystemFinishing an enemy with at least its required final-hit damage threshold, commonly improving AP or item rewards., but no Sphere GridSphere used to open a matching locked node on the Sphere Grid.. Charge Overdrives, equip Equipment AbilityAdds Fire element to the wielder's physical attacks. weapons if you have them, and put SkillPhysical attack that attempts to inflict Darkness for three turns. and SkillPhysical attack that attempts to halve the target's Strength. on the menu. If you want the Sphere GridSphere used to open a matching locked node on the Sphere Grid., do not summon an Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle.: Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. can knock the boss down but cannot push it backward.
Chocobo Eater
Use SkillPhysical attack that attempts to inflict Darkness for three turns. to blind him, then use Fire-based attacks. Keep reapplying Darkness when it wears off, because his punches hurt; he’s immune to Sleep on the original release, so don’t waste time trying that. Have Auron use SkillPhysical attack that attempts to halve the target's Strength. to minimize the damage when a punch connects.
Every 1,200 damage while the BossMi'ihen boss that can be killed normally or pushed off the northern cliff for two Lv. 1 Key Spheres; it can also push the party off the southern cliff. is standing knocks him onto his back. Deal another 500 before he stands to push him one section toward the northern cliff. He starts one section away from your cliff, needs three net pushes to go over his, and pushes the party south with his own attacks. That makes the cliff reward a small positioning puzzle rather than a pure damage race. If you’re going that way, use Haste, physical attackers, and Fire magic; don’t bring in an Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle., because Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle. cannot supply the push.
If you prefer to kill him outright, get everyone involved, then bring in Grand Summon AeonYuna's first aeon, a flying non-elemental summon whose starting Overdrive is Energy Ray and whose second is Energy Blast. for an overdriven Aeon OverdriveValefor's starting Overdrive, which damages every enemy.. My AeonYuna's second aeon, a Fire-elemental summon obtained at Kilika Temple that absorbs Fire damage. Battle SystemCharacter or aeon special attack resource charged according to the active Overdrive mode. did 4,782 damage, which was good for an Battle SystemFinishing an enemy with at least its required final-hit damage threshold, commonly improving AP or item rewards.. During the course of the battle, Kimahri was able to steal four ItemRestores 200 HP to one character.. Whee.
If he knocks you off the southern cliff, you’ll receive no rewards and will have to follow the Oldroad back. If you win either way, touch the Field SystemField sphere used to save and restore the party's HP and MP; later spheres also connect to the airship. to restore your HP and MP, then rent your free chocobo.
Chocobo Tracks; Chocobo Tricks
Ride north and watch the ground for yellow ItemUse item that grants Haste to one character for the battle.. Press the interact button near one and your chocobo will perform a trick to reach hidden treasure. After crossing the second bridge, use the feather at the hairpin to reach a EquipmentKimahri weapon reached from a Mi'ihen Chocobo feather, carrying Piercing and Firestrike.. Key ItemOne of 26 volumes that progressively translates the Al Bhed language. lies on the ground just beyond the bend; if you reach it before finding the feather, you’ve gone too far.
At the fork, open the chest to the left for two ItemRestores 1,000 HP to one character., save, then take the right-hand trail that doubles back onto the Oldroad.
The first Oldroad feather is opposite a small tower, directly below Shelinda and the scholar on the upper road. It leads to a EquipmentAuron weapon reached from a Mi'ihen Oldroad Chocobo feather, carrying Piercing and Lightningstrike. and a EquipmentWakka weapon name used for several fixed finds: Icestrike and Sensor in Kilika Woods, Lightningstrike and Sensor on the Mi'ihen Oldroad, or Sensor alone from the Crusader donation.. Continue south. A little after you see Lucil on the upper road, take the narrow eastern branch and use its feather for a Sphere GridActivates a Luck node that a character has reached on the Sphere Grid.. Just beyond it, you’ll find MerchantTraveling merchant whose later prices depend on the party's cumulative early donations. last loan opportunity. At the far southern end, open the chest for the Key ItemAuron's crest for the first Masamune upgrade in the North American English PS2 release., called Saturn on alternate-name releases.
Think about that for a second. This is where you end up if you don’t beat the BossMi'ihen boss that can be killed normally or pushed off the northern cliff for two Lv. 1 Key Spheres; it can also push the party off the southern cliff., right? You get knocked off the ledge and end up here. The implication is that Braska’s party couldn’t defeat the BossMi'ihen boss that can be killed normally or pushed off the northern cliff for two Lv. 1 Key Spheres; it can also push the party off the southern cliff.. :)
Head all the way back to the northern fork and save. The Crusader guarding the gate accepts donations: 100 Gil earns a EquipmentWakka weapon name used for several fixed finds: Icestrike and Sensor in Kilika Woods, Lightningstrike and Sensor on the Mi'ihen Oldroad, or Sensor alone from the Crusader donation., 1,000 Gil earns an EquipmentKimahri weapon awarded for a 1,000-Gil Crusader donation at the Mi'ihen gate, carrying Piercing and Icestrike., and 10,000 Gil earns a EquipmentYuna armor awarded for a 10,000-Gil Crusader donation at the Mi'ihen gate, carrying SOS Shell and SOS Protect.. None is important enough to raid the MerchantTraveling merchant whose later prices depend on the party's cumulative early donations. fund; talk to the Crusaders, offer only what you actually want to spend, and try the gate. When they refuse to let you pass, turn south. BossGuado maester fought at Macalania Temple in a three-phase battle involving two Guado Guardians and Anima. will arrive to make “no” considerably less permanent, after which you can continue toward Mushroom Rock.
