Final Fantasy X Walkthrough
Mt. Gagazet
Ronso vs. Ronso
When you first reach the mountain, you will be accosted by the Ronso. Eventually you will be allowed to continue. Talk to everyone, use the shop in the southeast/lower-right corner, and buy at least 20 ItemRemoves Zombie from one character. before continuing. Sell the weapons and armor you no longer need while you’re here; I was able to earn back about 10% of what I spent on AeonOptional aeon hired in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth; his action depends on Gil, hidden compatibility, Overdrive, target, and the recruitment answer..
Going into the next area requires some strategy, so read this bit carefully. Do it wrong and you’ll get some weak crap stuff. Do it right and you’ll get enough Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 3 locked node on the Sphere Grid. to keep your guys awesome.
This is a one-on-one battle for Kimahri. Set his Battle SystemCharacter or aeon special attack resource charged according to the active Overdrive mode. mode to Stoic and move the following near the top of the Items menu: ItemRestores 9,999 HP to one character. or ItemRestores 1,000 HP to one character., ItemRestores 100 MP to one character., ItemFully restores one character's HP and MP., and ItemRemoves most standard status ailments from one character.. Keep the ItemRestores 500 MP to one character. and ItemFully restores the active party's HP and MP. as emergency alternatives, but try not to waste them.
If you took Kimahri down Rikku’s route and have Special AbilityUses battle items from the dedicated Use inventory., also put ItemUse item that grants Haste to one character for the battle., ItemDoubles one character's maximum HP for the current battle without restoring HP., ItemUse item that grants Protect to one character for the battle., and ItemUse item that grants Shell to one character for the battle. near the top. Those give him Haste, double maximum HP, Protect, and Shell. More importantly, if he learned Special AbilityAttempts to take a fiend's common or rare steal item; repeated attempts become less likely to succeed., this is the Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 3 locked node on the Sphere Grid. opportunity we’ve been planning for since Bikanel.
Once everything is organized, SAVE, then head up the mountain.
When the fight begins, Special AbilityKimahri ability that drains HP and MP and can teach him specific Ronso Rage techniques from compatible enemies. every last skill out of these guys! BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use Mighty Guard before Lancet can learn it. carries Enemy AbilityYKT-63 attack that ejects one target from the battle., Status EffectStarts a countdown that inflicts KO when it reaches zero., Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned from Bomb that deals damage based on three times his maximum HP, then removes him from the battle; he returns afterward with 1 HP., and Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned with Lancet after Biran uses it; grants Protect, Shell, and all four elemental Nul statuses to the active party. Several enemies use their own version.. BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use White Wind before Lancet can learn it. carries Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned from Dual Horn that deals Fire-elemental damage to all enemies., Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned from Chimera that deals Water-elemental magic damage to all enemies., Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned from Basilisk that attempts to petrify all enemies., and Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned with Lancet after Yenke uses it; restores the active party's HP using a magic-based recovery formula.. Kimahri can Special AbilityKimahri ability that drains HP and MP and can teach him specific Ronso Rage techniques from compatible enemies. the first six immediately; he cannot learn Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned with Lancet after Biran uses it; grants Protect, Shell, and all four elemental Nul statuses to the active party. Several enemies use their own version. or Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned with Lancet after Yenke uses it; restores the active party's HP using a magic-based recovery formula. until the appropriate Ronso has actually used it.
Whenever they stand next to each other, that’s the perfect time to heal, buff, or steal. They protect one another and reduce direct damage to almost nothing. Eventually one will use Enemy AbilityBiran and Yenke's physical attack that also moves the user to the opposite side of Kimahri, temporarily separating the two guardians. and move to the other side of Kimahri. Since they cannot defend each other then, that’s when you should attack.
Before killing them off, steal those Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 3 locked node on the Sphere Grid. you’ve been waiting for. Each successful steal from one Ronso cuts the next chance against that same Ronso in half: 100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5%, and so on. The two Ronsos have separate counters, and each success can be one sphere or the rare two. I usually try for four successful steals from each before abandoning the increasingly ridiculous odds. If Kimahri never learned Steal, you cannot recover this particular opportunity during the solo battle; concentrate on the Ronso Rages and continue.
Emulator: force the two-sphere result
On a later Remiem Temple chocobo-race victory, opening four chests, touching no poles, and beating the champion awards 30 ItemRare Mix material used to customize Master Thief.. That is exactly enough to customize Equipment AbilityMakes every successful Steal or Mug take the target's rare item. onto one of Kimahri’s armors. Equipment AbilityMakes every successful Steal or Mug take the target's rare item. makes every successful Steal use the rare slot, so BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use Mighty Guard before Lancet can learn it. and BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use White Wind before Lancet can learn it. hand over two Sphere GridSphere used to open a Lv. 3 locked node on the Sphere Grid. at a time. It does not improve Steal’s declining chance to succeed.
Without Equipment AbilityMakes every successful Steal or Mug take the target's rare item., a successful Steal has a 25% chance of producing the rare two-sphere result. Make an emulator state immediately before one of the first two attempts against a brother. If you receive only one sphere, restore, let one of the Ronsos attack to advance the RNG, and try again. The first attempt against each brother has a 100% success chance and the attempt after one success has a 50% chance; beyond that, the shrinking success odds make repeated reloads much less attractive. The Emulator Notes keep this with the other useful targets.
Lower BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use White Wind before Lancet can learn it. below one-quarter HP while BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use Mighty Guard before Lancet can learn it. is still alive, wait for Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned with Lancet after Yenke uses it; restores the active party's HP using a magic-based recovery formula., and Special AbilityKimahri ability that drains HP and MP and can teach him specific Ronso Rage techniques from compatible enemies. it. Lower BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use Mighty Guard before Lancet can learn it. below one-quarter while BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use White Wind before Lancet can learn it. remains alive, wait for Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned with Lancet after Biran uses it; grants Protect, Shell, and all four elemental Nul statuses to the active party. Several enemies use their own version., and Special AbilityKimahri ability that drains HP and MP and can teach him specific Ronso Rage techniques from compatible enemies. that. I then concentrate on BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use White Wind before Lancet can learn it. for the first KO after both skills are safely learned. Ronso RageKimahri Overdrive learned from Dual Horn that deals Fire-elemental damage to all enemies. can deliver a 2,500-damage Battle SystemFinishing an enemy with at least its required final-hit damage threshold, commonly improving AP or item rewards. if Kimahri’s Magic is strong enough. The reliable expensive alternative for BossKimahri's Mt. Gagazet rival whose stats scale from Kimahri and who must use Mighty Guard before Lancet can learn it. is Special AbilityThrows Gil at one enemy to deal damage based on the amount spent.: throwing 25,000 Gil deals the 2,500 damage needed for Battle SystemFinishing an enemy with at least its required final-hit damage threshold, commonly improving AP or item rewards..
Despite how resistant they seem, the four Breaks and Doom work. That being said, keeping Kimahri healed, stealing, and arranging the two low-HP Ronso Rages is already plenty to manage.
You’ll get either a Sphere GridMoves one character to the node currently occupied by another character. or Sphere GridMoves one character to any node that character previously activated. from each one, doubled by Battle SystemFinishing an enemy with at least its required final-hit damage threshold, commonly improving AP or item rewards.. Equipment is random and not restricted to Kimahri; once I got a Sorcery Targe and a Baroque Sword, and another time I got two identical Sorcery Armlets. It seems like you should always get, you know, Kimahri weapons and armor from this battle, but whatever. :D You know, I wanna see this statue of Yuna. With her big ol’ horn… Heh heh.
Fun fact: if the battle lasts long enough and Kimahri has not already learned it, all those solo turns may unlock the Loner Battle SystemCharacter or aeon special attack resource charged according to the active Overdrive mode. mode. For some reason that strikes me as funny. Save again after the fight. Just in case.

The Monster Arena tracker keeps the whole regional list together.
You’ll want to use this area to charge your Battle SystemA summoned ally that replaces the active party until it is dismissed, defeated, or wins the battle., but don’t worry about that until you’ve captured enough of whatever enemy you’re facing. Once you have ten EnemyMt. Don’t grind in one spot just to finish the entire regional set. The cave and Zanarkand contain most of the remaining records and are better places to level. Just heal, save, and continue.

There’s a boss battle coming up past the Field SystemField sphere used to save and restore the party's HP and MP; later spheres also connect to the airship.. If Yuna talks to him, her Magic Defense increases by 10 for this battle; Kimahri’s Talk raises his Strength by 10. Does Tidus have SkillFast physical attack with unusually short recovery time, allowing the user to act again sooner.? It’s kinda useful here.
BossGuado maester fought at Macalania Temple in a three-phase battle involving two Guado Guardians and Anima. opens with Enemy AbilitySeymour Flux attack that deals physical damage and inflicts Zombie so Mortiorchis can follow with Full-Life for an instant KO. to inflict Status EffectCauses most healing and revival effects to damage the target instead of restoring it., then Boss PartArmored support shell accompanying Seymour Flux; after defeat it drains Seymour to revive with progressively lower maximum HP. follows with Wht MagicRevives one KO'd target at full HP.. The Boss PartArmored support shell accompanying Seymour Flux; after defeat it drains Seymour to revive with progressively lower maximum HP. trick took me a little while. Reduce it to zero and it absorbs HP from BossGuado maester fought at Macalania Temple in a three-phase battle involving two Guado Guardians and Anima. to revive, then its maximum falls by 1,000 until it reaches 1,000. This is extra damage against BossGuado maester fought at Macalania Temple in a three-phase battle involving two Guado Guardians and Anima., but the smaller revivals also mean less help each time.

I really don’t recommend fighting fair. This guy’s mean. The funniest answer is Threaten: it has no resistance, and AeonIce-aligned aeon acquired during the Macalania Temple battle; she absorbs Ice and can heal herself with Ice magic. Aeon AbilityShiva's special attack, which deals physical damage and normally delays the target's next turn. can keep applying it.
