Final Fantasy IX Disc 1

Burmecia

Visiting Burmecia

After a few cut scenes, you’ll be back in control of Zidane. If you swiped an EquipmentWeapon for Vivi or a EquipmentHead Armor for: Zidane, Vivi, Eiko, Quina and Dagger (or both) from EnemyGizamaluke's Grotto boss. Weak to Thunder and Wind; Water is reduced and Earth has no effect. Steal: Elixir, Magus Hat, Ice Staff. Reward: 5 AP, 800 Gil. Drops: Tent., be sure to remember to equip them now. Head due north to the doorway on the cliff face. That’s North Gate’s Burmecia Arch. Toward the gate is a few chests (ItemRestores HP: 300 outside battle or 450 in battle. and ItemIf used in battle, inflicts Silence, Darkness and Poison. If used in the field, restores HP/MP at save moogle.). The gates themselves are locked, though, so you can’t get in. North and just west of there is the town of Burmecia. You can go there now, but this is a good time to learn new Blue Magic from enemies in this area.

Now is also a good time to head past the cyclone (city of Cleyra) and call Choco from the chocobo tracks over near the shore. Choco can learn a new ability and find two more treasures. Going through this area will net you a EquipmentArmor for: Eiko, Vivi, Quina and Dagger and an EquipmentWeapon for Vivi (cool!) See the Chocobo Treasures section for more information.

When you’re ready to advance the plot, head to the town proper. You should see what looks like either an overturned cart or an overturned bucket straight in front of you. Go around behind it and examine it for the Stellazio CoinOne of 12 Stellazio Coins. Give to Queen Stella. See 'Stellazio Section' for more information. Stellazio. See Stellazio Coins for more information. Head forward again and fight a couple of Black Mages, then head through the door on the left.

At the near right is a chest with a ItemRemove Status Effect: Petrify, Gradual Petrify. At the near left is a chest with a ItemRestore HP (150 if in battle, 100 otherwise). See the chest on the next level? You can’t get there because the floor is out. Let’s fix that, shall we? Leave this room via the door you came in and go right and up the stairs, then through the doorway.

In the next room, there is a chest hidden from view by the stairs. It has a ItemRemove Status Effect: Petrify, Gradual Petrify in it. Head up the stairs next. If you want to fight a EnemyBurmecia chest monster. Weak to Holy; Shadow damage is reduced. Steal: Hi-Potion, Antidote. Drops: Ether, Hi-Potion, Phoenix Down. Its Call attack can summon Magic Vice., open the chest here. They are tough, though. Head through the doorway on your left and across the walk to the other side. WALK left and open the chest for a EquipmentAdd-on for: All, then head back to the right until Zidane jumps.

See how the floor nicely fits the area that was missing earlier? Backtrack to that room and go open that chest - if you want to fight another EnemyBurmecia chest monster. Weak to Holy; Shadow damage is reduced. Steal: Hi-Potion, Antidote. Drops: Ether, Hi-Potion, Phoenix Down. Its Call attack can summon Magic Vice.. There is an open doorway now, though, that you can get to. Go through it and head right (onto the balcony). You’ll hop across and enter the next room. There’s a guy on the right who tells you to get the bell by the bed. On the way, go to the far left corner and open the chest for an ItemRestore MP (150 if in battle, 100 otherwise). Now head to the far right corner and “Check under the bed.” That’s all you can do here, so head back out the way you came in, all the way out of the building.

Head right and go back up the stairs and through the door, then to the left and out onto the rainy patio. Walk up to the blue door in the center and ring the ItemGet in Burmecia (It's kind of hidden)., then head through the door to watch some cut scenes. On the next screen, head through the ruined door right in front of you to watch more cut scenes, then leave and go up the stairs on your right.

Don’t bother going through the first doorway you see; it’s a dead end. Go across the balcony again and through THAT doorway. There are two chests here. The closest one has a ItemIf used in battle, inflicts Silence, Darkness and Poison. If used in the field, restores HP/MP at save moogle., the next has a ItemRevive a KO'd character. If you follow the rail all the way around, there is a chest on the other end which is actually another EnemyBurmecia chest monster. Weak to Holy; Shadow damage is reduced. Steal: Hi-Potion, Antidote. Drops: Ether, Hi-Potion, Phoenix Down. Its Call attack can summon Magic Vice.. If you head through the doorway at the far end of this room, you’ll come out by the ruined palace fountain. There are three exits from here. One ahead and left, one straight ahead and the other ahead and right. Go to the left one and get a EquipmentWeapon for Freya, then head to the right one.

Give Atla a letter/mognet/ItemIf used in battle, inflicts Silence, Darkness and Poison. If used in the field, restores HP/MP at save moogle./mogshop/save. Head past Atla and get the EquipmentWeapon for Vivi out of the chest at the far end of the room, and in walks Stiltzkin! Buy the ItemRemove Status Effect: Petrify, Gradual Petrify, ItemRestores HP: 300 outside battle or 450 in battle., ItemRestore MP (150 if in battle, 100 otherwise) combo from him for 333 Gil then leave and…

Boss Battle Prep

Get ready for a major battle. Steal abilities at max. Other than that, unequip any gear you think Garnet and Steiner can take advantage of. Don’t worry about removing the EquipmentAdd-on for: All from Quina - they can’t use it. When ready, save then head north and watch the cut scenes.

Don’t attack her, just use your three non-Zidane people to heal with ItemRestore HP (150 if in battle, 100 otherwise) and maybe use Blue Magic64 MP Blue Magic. Casts Protect and Shell on the party. while Zidane tries to steal. It’s theoretically possible to get that EquipmentWeapon for Steiner, but please don’t sweat it if you can’t/don’t. You can buy it pretty quickly, and you really don’t want to keep reloading over this one. The EquipmentArmor for: Zidane, Amarant and ItemRevive a KO'd character are pretty easy to get, though. You can use Blue Magic2 MP Blue Magic. Reduces one target's MP by a random amount. if you want, though. That’s good for a laugh. XD
