Final Fantasy IX
Chocobo Bubbles and Cracks
Bubbles and Cracks
Throughout the land there are some bubbles and some cracks. If you feed Choco a SystemField/battle item used with Choco to reach bubbles, cracks, and hidden treasure spots. at the bubble or the crack, he’ll go nuts and grab whatever is under the bubbles or crack. Dead Peppers start showing up once Choco can climb mountains, but some of these are much more reasonable to grab after later Choco upgrades.
After Choco Learns Mountain
Once Dawn Lagoon gives Choco the Mountain ability, Choco Hot-and-Cold can start coughing up Dead Peppers. You can use your first one here without waiting for Ocean or Fly.
Quan's Dwelling Bubble
Dead Pepper
Pilot Choco to Quan's Dwelling, east of Treno, and go inside. Go all the way through to the other side and examine the bucket at the end. If you have a Dead Pepper, you'll be allowed to use it.
Reward: 9 Ore, 15 Topaz, 1 Tiger Racket, 1 Red Rose Card
After Choco Learns Ocean
After Green Plains unlocks the Ocean ability, the bubble treasures become actual errands instead of “somewhere out there, mockingly bubbling” nonsense.
Search the ocean between the Outer Continent and the Mist Continent, due north of Alexandria.
Reward: 8 Straw Hat, 8 Pearl Armlet, 7 Aloha T-Shirt, 8 Sandals
Forgotten Continent Bubble
Ability: Ocean
Far west of Qu's Marsh, north of Chocobo's Lagoon, and a little west. It's hidden inside the curl of the tip of the Forgotten Continent.
Reward: 10 Remedy, 1 Black Robe, 1 Genji Gloves, 1 Blue Narciss Card
When First Sent to the Forgotten Continent
When the story dumps you onto the Forgotten Continent, these two cracks are nearby enough to be worth checking before you get back to the plot. The plot can wait. It knows what it did.
Oeilvert North Crack
Ability: Mountain
Due north from Oeilvert, about halfway further up the continent, there is a crack hidden in a bend near a tiny forest.
Head due southwest from the crack above, and you'll walk over two mountain ranges. Halfway between the above crack and Oeilvert, you'll find (if you look REALLY HARD) the final crack.
