Weird Woods, Saith, and Hispaniola
Weird Woods
Head back to the left and into the woods. After the path is cleared, you’ll be able to wander around the area.

This is where I like to level up a bit more. You’ll end up in a major fight soon and it will be good to have characters that can hold their ground. While wandering around, pick up any Recovery ItemRestores a small amount of HP to one ally. or Recovery ItemCures Poison. items you find. Like before, I tend to just sell most of these off and rely on Luna to cure conditions. Since poison goes away at the end of each battle, I rarely use them once the characters are strong enough to defeat these enemies in one or two rounds. By this time Alex should be able to do more than one attack. Having him focus on the strongest enemies makes these battles a lot easier.
Anyway, there’s a large open area here. If you’re leveling up, don’t go to the upper left past this area until you’re ready for the big fight. The upper right exit from this area has a slightly hard to see orange chest. It’s locked, and if you try to open it Nall will wonder what’s inside. This is the LocationForest route between Burg and Saith. red treasure chest; it contains the AccessoryEquippable by everyone. Defense +1; Attack +10. Raises attack power., but you cannot open it yet.
If you head left, you’ll end up in three back-to-back fights. Since you can’t recover between battles, clear out all but one enemy and heal up before finishing each battle. If you find you are having a lot of trouble, you can ask for help from the mysterious stranger who offers assistance between battles. When the battles are over, there will be more cut dialogue and you’ll be able to move on. If you were unable to withstand all three waves of attack, you will get a little bit more dialogue, but there isn’t any tangible difference.
Head down and find your way out of this area. At this point I like to be about level 13 or so. If you’re not, you may want to level up a bit here, but be sure to head to LocationPort town on Caldor Isle. first and buy new weapons and armor. When you get to the overworld map and you’re ready to move on, head left across the bridge and down and right to the town of LocationPort town on Caldor Isle.. (You can ignore the left fork for now; you’ll be coming back there soon.)
Saith
When you enter town, head down the path and visit the weapon shop on the right. Upgrade everyone’s armor, and buy a WeaponEquippable by Luna, Ramus, Nash. Attack +10. for Luna and a WeaponEquippable by Alex, Kyle. Attack +16. for Alex.
Head to the lower right corner of the city screen, talking to folks along the way. In the dock house at the bottom you’ll learn you need a Key ItemChart needed to arrange passage from Saith to Meribia.. Talk to the two guys at the top of the screen until they repeat themselves, then head to the bar to find it. Talk to the guy in the upper right corner of the screen to gamble for it. Keep talking to him until you get a WeaponEquippable by Luna, Mia, Nash. Attack +16; Luck +10..
The second floor of the southwest house also has a locked red treasure chest containing a AccessoryEquippable by everyone. Defense +10. Raises Defense.. You cannot open it yet.
Old Hag’s Forest
Leave town the way you came in, but this time take the left road and head up. Eventually you’ll come to a forest.

Make your way through the forest, grabbing items from any chests you find. Five of the obvious chests just call more monsters and contain no treasure, so be sure you’re ready for battle before opening them. Head all the way to the top of this screen and on the next one head up to meet Nash. Nash comes with a WeaponEquippable by Mia, Nash. Attack +20., Robe, Armlet / BraceletEquippable by Alex, Ramus, Mia, Nash, Kyle. Defense +4., and HeadgearEquippable by everyone. Defense +1.. Continue up to arrive at the Old Hag’s house.
Head upstairs, talk to her, and then have Luna talk to Nash. Trade the WeaponEquippable by Mia, Nash. Attack +20. to the Old Hag for the Key ItemChart needed to arrange passage from Saith to Meribia.. Be careful, though. If you leave and come back she’ll ask for the WeaponEquippable by Luna, Mia, Nash. Attack +16; Luck +10. as well. Don’t give that up just yet, since you’ll want Nash to use it for a while. If you go into the basement you can find another of those locked red treasure chests. It contains a Recovery ItemRestores all MP to one ally., but you can’t do anything about that just yet.
Leave the house and head all the way back to LocationPort town on Caldor Isle..
Leaving Saith
Note: Read this whole section first; you’ll thank me later.
When you get to town you’ll find there’s a monster on the loose. Visit the statue to make sure your HP and MP are restored, equip the best weapons and armor that you can, then save your game and head to the dock. The higher your level, the more powerful this guy will be, so be sure to use whatever attacks you have that do the most damage. I recommend giving Luna and Ramus a Recovery ItemRestores a limited amount of MP to one ally.. You need Alex to be able to continuously attack with powerful magic to defeat this guy, and he’ll run out of magic if you don’t give him a Recovery ItemRestores a limited amount of MP to one ally..
Saline Slimer
In terms of how each character attacks, here’s how I approach this one:
- Alex: Cast MagicAlex's 10 MP ability raises Alex's attack power, affecting Alex. to boost attack, then use MagicAlex's 6 MP ability delivers a rapid series of sword strikes, affecting one enemy.. Have someone toss him a Recovery ItemRestores a limited amount of MP to one ally. when he runs out of MP.
- Ramus: Attack and use a Recovery ItemRestores a limited amount of MP to one ally. on Alex when he has less than 10 MP.
- Luna: Use MagicLuna's 15 MP ability restores party HP, affecting all allies. to keep folks healthy, and be ready to use a Recovery ItemRestores a limited amount of MP to one ally. on Alex if he’s lower on MP and Ramus is unable to move. MagicLuna's 4 MP ability removes a curable status condition, affecting one ally. does not release anyone caught by Enemy AbilitySaline Slimer's named attack immobilizes one party member for several turns. Purity Song cannot remove the restraint..
- Nash: Spam MagicNash's 6 MP ability attacks with lightning, affecting an enemy zone. until out of MP, then attack. (Don’t forget to equip the WeaponEquippable by Luna, Mia, Nash. Attack +16; Luck +10. if you haven’t done that already!) If you have a third Recovery ItemRestores a limited amount of MP to one ally., you can give it to Nash in case both Luna and Ramus are unable to move.
So why did I say to read the whole section first? Well the biggest enemy in this battle is actually the PRNG. No matter how high level you are, or how well prepared you are going into this area, if the game rolls badly on the pseudo random number generator, you’re going to hate life. This is why I said to save before attempting. In fact, once all the sailors run away, you can save again right before the fight. I recommend it, frankly. BossThe boss at Saith Port; its major stats scale with Alex's level. Enemy AbilitySaline Slimer's named attack immobilizes one party member for several turns. Purity Song cannot remove the restraint. attack can make a random character lose up to 4 or 5 turns. If that character is Alex and it happens several times in a row, quit and reload. Seriously. It’s possible to harm him, but he regenerates a LOT of HP every turn, and if you can’t use Alex’s MagicAlex's 6 MP ability delivers a rapid series of sword strikes, affecting one enemy. you won’t be able to keep up with it.
Sail Away, Sail Away, Sail Away!
When the battle is over, you’ll talk to Luna and then you’ll get to sail away across the ocean. Talk to folks on the main deck if you want, then head below deck.
Save your game, then when you’re ready to move on, talk to Luna at the top of the screen twice. When you wake up, head up onto the deck and watch the cut scene. If you like the cut scene, you can reload from the save game. After the scene, you’ll wake up and join with Luna. Go up to the deck and walk down the bow to trigger the last cut scene before Meribia.
