Hot Springs and Soap
Soap unlocks optional in-game scenes at two springs. This page records how to reach the scenes without reproducing their art or dialogue. Both springs have now been directly confirmed in the North American PlayStation release.

Spring routes and confirmed behavior
Spring near Meryod Woods and Damon's Spire
Availability: First reachable during the Reza and Meryod route
Confirmed behavior: Direct NTSC-U confirmation: two different scenes are available. Talk to the man again after the first scene to view the second; each consumes one Soap.
Additional evidence: The second scene requires swapping discs. A third attempt prompts a swap back to Disc 1, consumes another Soap, and repeats the first scene.
Route advice: Use exactly two Soap if you want both scenes, then stop.
Spring beyond the Forbidden Forest
Availability: Reachable once the party can survive or escape the forest; a 5,000 Silver chest is also in the forest
Confirmed behavior: Direct NTSC-U confirmation: only one distinct scene is available. Spending additional Soap repeats the same scene.
Additional evidence: Viewing the scene requires swapping to Disc 2. This supersedes the contrary PlayStation walkthrough claim that two different scenes can be viewed here.
Route advice: Use exactly one Soap, complete the Disc 2 swap, and stop.
Version notes
- Three Soap are required to see every distinct spring scene: two at the Meryod spring and one at the Forbidden Forest spring.
- Some descriptions claim random or multiple Forbidden Forest scenes. Direct NTSC-U testing confirms one scene that repeats if more Soap is spent.
- These are optional in-game scenes. The guide remains text-only and does not reproduce their images or dialogue.
