Final Fantasy VII Side Quest

Yuffie’s Wutai Pagoda

The Five-Level Pagoda becomes available after completing the Wutai materia-theft quest. However, these fights can be hard when Wutai first becomes available and waiting has an added benefit beyond being stronger. This side quest is one of the very few opportunities for Enemy Skill Materia to learn the Trine Enemy Skill. If you wait, you can ensure all four Enemy Skill Materia can learn it.

If you wait, these battles are trivial and you probably won’t need my advice. So the advice below is for folks trying to take this on when it first becomes available on Disc 1—should you want to tackle it then.

Before You Start

If you do want to take it on when it’s first available, bring X-Potions, Elixirs, Swift Bolts, and Status Abnormality ItemsTarget: 1, Paralyse enemy, and make sure you’ve learned the enemy skill Magic Hammer.

Start this side quest by putting Yuffie in your party and talking to the person in the tall pagoda at the back of the far-right area of Wutai.

Suggested setup:

General pattern: rest and save between fights. Open with Big Guard, Sense if you want the HP readout, and use Magic Hammer to drain MP from enemies where it matters. If Counter Attack and Added Effect slow or stop an enemy, Deathblow becomes much more reliable.
