Final Fantasy VII

Disc 2: Optional Side Quest Cleanup

If you haven’t already done it, this is a great time to visit the Sunken Gelnika. That’s where you get Yuffie’s Yuffie's WeaponsYuffie's Weapon. Attack: 96; Attack %: 112; Connected Slots: 8; Unconnected Slots: 0; Growth: NO GROWTH! weapon, which is the key to rapidly making your team completely OP. See the Sunken Gelnika section for the full route, loot, and morphing setup. You can grind for stat-up items if you want, but I tend to wait until after revisiting Cosmo Canyon. At that point you can have all of the Summon Materia, which means the grinding can also work toward Master Summon Materia.

Where Else Can I Go?

By this time in the game I have all of the Summon Materia except Bahamut ZERO: Alexander Materia, Bahamut Materia, Choco-Mog Materia, Hades Materia, Ifrit Materia, Kjata Materia, Knights of the Round Materia, Leviathan Materia, Neo Bahamut Materia, Odin Materia, Phoenix Materia, Ramuh Materia, Shiva Materia, Titan Materia, and Typhoon Materia.

I also have Cloud’s weapon Cloud's WeaponsCloud's Weapon. Attack: 88; Attack %: 110; Connected Slots: 0; Unconnected Slots: 3; Growth: Triple from the Chocobo Racing section, W-Summon Materia from the Gold Saucer section, EXP Plus Materia from the Gold Saucer section, two Ribbons from the Disc 1 sections, Slash-All Materia from the Chocobo Racing section, and the major Enemy Skills: Magic Breath, Bad Breath, Beta, Trine, Magic Hammer, Big Guard, and Death Force.

If you’ve already been dipping into the Leveling Up section, Cloud’s stats may be above 100 by now. In my game, I also have master level materia for all Magic Materia except Shield Materia, master level Cover Materia linked with master level Counter Materia, Steal as Well Materia from the optional Wutai section, and the Underwater Materia.

Optional: Tifa’s Ultimate Weapon

To get this weapon, you’ll need to get back into Midgar. Head there on foot and talk to the guy lounging outside the gate. He’ll tell you he lost the key at a dig site.

Head to Bone Village, have them search for “good treasure,” and when they point to the area just south of the nose cone of the airplane, you should be able to get the Key to the Slums.

Head to Wall Market and check out the item shop, the one with the machine gun. You should get the Tifa's WeaponsTifa's Weapon. Attack: 99; Attack %: 112; Connected Slots: 8; Unconnected Slots: 0; Growth: NO GROWTH! weapon.

If you go and talk to the guy who sold you the batteries earlier, you’ll have the option to buy an accessory that makes stealing items work better. That’s most cool if you have the Mega All Materia.

Optional: Cactus Island

Hover the airship over Cosmo Canyon and point it directly south, and just ever so slightly west. When you get toward the bottom of the map, you will find an island with a bit of green and a lot of brown called Cactus Island.

You can find enemies here called Cactuer. If you defeat them in battle, you’ll get 1,000 XP, 100 AP, and 1,000 Gil, which isn’t really all that great.

However, if you have Yuffie’s Yuffie's WeaponsYuffie's Weapon. Attack: 96; Attack %: 112; Connected Slots: 8; Unconnected Slots: 0; Growth: NO GROWTH!, a master Morph Materia, and a master Sneak Attack Materia, you can morph these guys into an accessory called AccessoriesAccessory: Drains Fire, Ice, Lightning and Earth based magic attacks.

Back to the Game

Now that you’ve completed (or skipped) the currently available optional side quests, let’s head to Junon to get the Key ItemsKey Item: You can collect all four! (And when you do, take them to Bugenhagen's Observator and up the elevator to get Bahamut Zero).
